Re: Big Toe Arthritis- Anyone Tele with a bone fusion
My big toe joint started an arthritic process started from an injury about 20 years ago, which was not properly treated. Fortunately, pain only experienced nowadays with flexion of the joint. Telemark turn puts the joint into extension, and I am lucky enough that haven't experienced pain in this mot...

Garbage bag will outperform Gore-tex in hydrostatic head test every day of the week. And the fashion statement is definitely retro. (Good old days, indeed.)Montana St Alum wrote: ↑Tue Dec 22, 2020 11:48 amAh, I remember the good old days....wearing garbage bags...

Re: The Word is out Now!
Cool, thanks for the pics. I remember a sign along the pass going up Hogback Mountain says you can see a long distance on a clear day. Probably passed through a dozen times, but never on a clear day.Woodserson wrote: ↑Wed Dec 16, 2020 11:19 pmWe have great sightlines here in New England from the summits...

Sighting Mount Washington from the summit of Stowe? Neato. Must have been one heluva blue bird day; can see why that experience is seared into your memory. Maps says it's about 80-miles as the crow flies.

Re: Skiing after Dark?
I spent a lot of my teenage years, and early 20's, "resort" night skiing in southern New England. My two cents: (1) Much cheaper. (2) Shorter lift lines. Less rat race. (3) Clear or yellow goggles are your friend. (4) Ice skiing confidence can increase. If you're talking about backcountry at night, ...

Telecat 1. As a minimum, try visiting a ski shop, tell them what's going on, and see if they have any ideas. Ski techs better at cost effective solutions than sales guys!! :lol: 2. T1 boots have ski mode with 2 forward lean angles. If forward lean is too much, try like this with boots donned... a. ...

Re: OMG, and you thought Tele gear was expensive...check out Skimo racing gear
As far as skimo boots go, the race boots suck for going down. Homeboys competing skimo are pretty talented skiers. They could probably descend a mountain with a pair of 2x4's with scrap leather straps for binding better than I can with an alpine rig. Their gear is definitely specialized for the "up."

Re: Chord Center mounting- does it make any sense?
Telemark is about balance between skis and using knee, hip, and ankle rotation to turn. If one is skiing with such active bindings and stiff boots to be able to drive a ski by flexing the shins, then is it really telemark anymore? One drill I use; to improve balance, to not "drive forward" so much,...

@lowangle al :
You could live in the extended cab alone.
The truck camper turns your conveyance into a "mansion on wheels."
What part of the mansion is for tuning & waxing?

Stiff upper lip, and stoic. Appreciate the lack of drama....as it gets a bit chilly here in Alaska.
