Re: Fischer BCX-5 or Alaska BC? Choose wisely

The question is simple: do you have the money to buy (keep) the Alaska? If so, go for the Alaska. You won't overpower your skis... I might sound a bit sharp, but I would have like ton encounter sharp opinions when I began skiing. I was mislead a couple of times. In the end, I bought all kind of stuf...

Re: Fischer BCX-5 or Alaska BC? Choose wisely

I use to have the Fischer BCX4 — which is very, very similar to the BCX5 (https://www.sportrebel.com/index.php/Boots-Fischer-BCX4/534). The fit wasn't good for me and the relative stiffness of the sole didn't meet the real softness of the upper boot. I think the Alaska is more balanced (disclaimer: ...

Re: Rod Van Winkle, march 2019

The legend states that he is also a snowmobile destroyer; some say he carries a little telescopic Bazooka just in case. Snowmobilers tell their kid that Van Winkle will change em into strummolskovitch if they do no go to sleep early..

Re: Nordica NRGY 80 with NTN?

Thoughts? Yea... Experience? Nope

But I would go for it. Nice rocker, not too much splay. Solid. No pull-out with that one (it has a drilled titanal layer in them). 80 is good for the groomers and for few inches of fresh snow. I found a cheap pair too but... too much ski already...

Re: the Guide Reborn!

There is at least 3 version of the 10th Mtn Tour: —2 older ones: 84-68-74, wax and non-wax —1 newer version: 99/68/84, non-wax And I've seen (on the net) an another version which was 88-66-78 (?) They eventually replaced the old 10th Mtn tour with the Dorado when they issued the newer ones (99/68/84...

Re: New skis, new bindings, or new technique?

My advice: stay away from Rossi nordic BC skis... Except maybe for the BC 125 (kind of heavy though by comparison). I use to own a pair of BC 90... for a 2-3 month before I sold it back. Poor design for that kind of skis in my views. I looked at the newer version; they seem to be the same (the graph...

Re: Alpina Alaska Boots in very cold weather

if you are ok with the Rossi BCX9 in terms of warmth, I'd be surprised you get colder feet in Alpina Alaska (you might actually find them better in that regard). There is even a version with integrated warmer:

Re: Seeking Advice on NTN

That thing about «down» and «up» stance isn't quite (always) right to me; if you are carving (really), you will need to go down because of the angulation... your trailing knee has to be closer to the snow. You just can't get away with it... Voilà. Just a little precision...

Re: Seeking Advice on NTN

Always a good advice to «try before you buy». Not always easy though...
