Re: Saw this on Facebook - Voile TTS binding coming...

Interesting. I’m a big Voile fan. Longtime Switchback user . But recently put together a Kreuzspitze Telealps kit based set up for touring and total weight came in at approximately 2.3lbs all in with crampon adapter. Also, you can remove cable assembly( I built it with a Voile Switchback hardwire a...

Re: Quarantine Musings - What's Voile's Next Move?

Yeah, but the review is kind of short... A lot of questions rise: Can we take the cartridge unit off during climb? Can we change pivot position without taking the binding off? Is the toe piece rigid enough (see telemark skier evaluation)? From Dostie view it is probably springy AND not releasable. E...

Re: longtime lurker requesting ski advice

It is good to consider air & snow temperature—around 30-32˚F or 0˚C... But what is very critical is the type of snow; I bet you had some new snow when you went out, that is why you had snow consolidation under your wax pocket. That is one of the trickiest condition in spring: new snow, warm air, sun...

Re: The most supportive leather 75mm boots commonly available now?

There is no compatibility problem per se ; all 75 mm NN will fit in both bindings...BUT, some thinner duckbill will fit better in Rotte ST 3 pin binding than in the Voile's one. For instance, I have a leather boot that needs to be click in the third position to have a secure fit in the Rotte ST; in ...

Re: Quarantine Musings - What's Voile's Next Move?

Pardon my greenness - but that's all the springs do on a tech toe? They allow 3 modalities: open, locked and ski mode, where you have a release option... That release in TTS is somewhat theoretical... It COULD work but the tele configuration makes it a little problematic... The release is made to w...

Beware of ice cream

Sunday, I was out skiing in my secret stash in Sainte-Brigitte, north of Quebec City... Lots of snow still, fresh and heavy. After a couple of turns, I notice a small tree behind a big one; too late! I tried to avoid the thing and bing boom badang! Skis in the air, head in the snow. I felt pain behi...

Re: Quarantine Musings - What's Voile's Next Move?

It looks like there are two positions for activity: Neutral and Active. And there are two hardwire spring choices: Tour or Stiff. OH yes, I see that now. A closer reading would have eliminated my guess. I can see the "active" setting holes too for the wire in the picture. The stiff cartridges look ...

Re: OMG TTS Question

Do you need to stay upright with your set up or you could go down knee to ski? I do not like the feeling of bottoming the cartridge and I do not ski knee to ski (sauf exception). I read that it depends on pivot location and boot size also. Where did you put the pivot?

Re: E99 vs. Outback 68 vs. Sporten Ranger

The E99 (waxable version) is not what you are looking for... You can't wax it and then off you go for 2 years... You need to kick wax the thing every time you go out, since you also do not want to use the skins... Not sure I truly understand your concern. But anyway, get the waxless version; you can...
