Re: wax vs scales vs XSkin vs klister

yikes, good luck w/ the MRI Woods - hopefully it's just a tweak. If you're still able to do XC skiing that's a good sign, hopefully it will gradually heal the problem. If you've never injured it or had surgery before I'm sure the prognosis is good.

Agree on the buckles, the benefit is there for people w/ skinny ankles like me, it helps to close the boot around your instep. But you never want extra weight on your feet if you can avoid it.

The Rifugios have undergone stretching and are ready to rock - hopefully tomorrow.

Re: Always check the basement.... 199s

nice pickup! They always have a good selection of boots down there too. I'm pleased that we seem to have passed the inflection point of the short-ski fad. Not only have Fischer's Sbound series sprouted back up in length to 200cm (sorry, "199") but Madshus Eons and Epochs were also made to ...

Re: 2019 ALFA Guard Advance GTX M Boots Review

Backcountry magazine has big article on the "history of telemark" this month. As usual it completely ignores the current popularity of light telemark a.k.a. "XCD". It's funny, most articles like this track the progression of distance-oriented, XC-rooted telemark in the 70's, 80's...

Re: Ski Review: 2018-2019 Åsnes Ingstad BC

going shorter on a wider, more turny ski like the Ingstad/NATO makes more sense to me - I'm happy with the NATO's in 200cm, I appreciate the ease of turning. I would have chosen 205 if given the chance. 210's would be a world of difference, floating high in deep snow and gliding like an XC ski, but ...

Re: Boot Review: 2018 Crispi Svartisen BC

that is the big problem today, many skis and bindings to chose from, not many leather telemark boots for the in-between area that is more than XC skiing but less than AT skiing....the old 1 or 2-buckles like Andrew Zenith are ideal for light tele skiing. Rifugio is another good option, have not skii...

Re: 2019 ALFA Guard Advance GTX M Boots Review

Look at the stitching & leather gusset around the tongue - really nice work! some of the nicest ski boot workmanship anywhere is coming out of Alfa & Lundhags in Scandanavia these days. Would love to see Alfa start making a Norwegian welt boot for 3-pin instead of the glue-on model they have...

for times when wax doesn't work well - frozen granular or icy conditions especially. Above freezing conditions. You give up on trying to wax and just plug in the skins.

Re: Boot Review: 2018 Crispi Svartisen BC

seems like boot overkill for Gamme, I like Antarctics for those. Heel lift is no joke! I developed a bone spur on my heel from chronic heel lift, a surgeon had to cut it off for me. :o
