Re: the magic and power of grip wax

>>When it comes to very abrasive snow- I am not convinced that ironed in base binder is any more effective than ironed in Polar/Green (though as I said above- I do believe it makes a difference in the kick zone of a double-cambered ski.) same here, on frozen granular the wax and the base binder are ...

Re: the magic and power of grip wax

I crayon the grip wax on the base and then use the iron to spread it smooth & flat. It doesn't take much wax this way. No real need for corking afterwards. I would only use the iron to cover the entire base with polar or green (using it as glide wax) or to iron-in base binder to the kick section...

Re: Mikaela Shiffrin

I feel the same way, I'm cringing half the time watching them, it feels somewhat exploitive. If you lose your edges you're almost guaranteed to rack into the fence and get injured, the entire slope is an ice rink, why can't they have hay bales on the edges? "weekenders urgency" haha I get what you mean. I've had some bad experiences with the Fischer Offtrack bases on fresh dry snow as well, it can be unbelievably slow in those conditions IMO. Where it excels is warm spring corn. this is why many of us turn to Asnes, to get the XCD-type skis w...

Re: Mikaela Shiffrin

no kidding, I couldn't believe they didn't bother showing the end of the race before announcing the winner....idiots! I thought Shiffrin did well in slalom, .4 off the winner, definitely not a choke, it's not like she skied off the course or anything. regarding Vonn she's also had some brutal injuri...

Re: Mikaela Shiffrin

World Cup titles mean 10 times more than Olympic medals, it means you consistently bring it all winter long. As Bode Miller said in the Olympics everyone is going crazy, risking it all to get into one of the top 3 spots. I think the top 15 finishers in World Cup races get points. Ted Ligety dominate...
