Re: Telemark

the boot? I think it was an older Alpina boot with lots of mileage on it. A duct-tape job would have been enough to get home but I didn't have any, just sort of shuffled 1-2 miles out with my foot resting on the ski.

Re: Telemark

I can see the future - "don't let grandpa catch you in those NNN boots boy!" the Norwegians use 3-pins too - I think Varg is still making them there, also Alico and Andrew both ship their leather 75mm boots to dealers up there. I did have a problem once with NNNBC, but it wasn't the bar or bin...

Re: Madshus Glittertind Wax vs Asnes Amundsen

I would go with Glittertind, I've handled them in the shop and they seemed nicely built. I like the blue color - looks like some are still around the on-line retailers. Would be a good complement to the Epochs, the Glittertind would be like an XC ski in comparison, but can still handle some downhill...

very nice - you need some snow! Which bindings did you choose for these? The EZ-skin is good for customer loyalty, once you buy some of the brand-specific skins, they've captured you!

Re: Madshus Glittertind Wax vs Asnes Amundsen

The Glittertend is similar to the Gamme54, you can stay w/ Asnes and get the same ski. Amundsen is like an XC ski with edges. If you like to mix in tele turns I would go with Glittertend/Gamme 54. Pure trekking and kick and glide, the Amundsen might be better. For an edged ski I like the Glittertend...

Re: Fischer 2015-2016 product line-up???

Woods, do you have the new easy-skin S-bounds? good job! Would love to know how it works. Last year I found the BD kicker skins to work well going uphill. I was able to go straight up Tuckerman Ravine Trail to Hojos all the way without slippage. as I said the metal tab did suck on the flat parts, bu...

Re: Fischer E-109 vs. Asnes Ingstad

interesting discussion, I would still use NNNBC for XC if I had some comfortable boots. But seeing as I found very comfortable 75mm boots, it's easier to just convert the quiver over to 3-pin. The Scandanavians are using nice leathers like Lundhags and Alfa NNNBC boots that we don't see in the US. I...

Re: Fischer E-109 vs. Asnes Ingstad

Just a suggestion but measure where balance is relative chord center (measure from tip to tail and divide by 2). If chord and balance are real close, mount at balance. If chord and balance vary and chord is more forward, mount at chord. Mikek, your oh so diplomatic! A convoluted way of saying: "Mou...

Re: Fischer E-109 vs. Asnes Ingstad

Mike - the Antarctic leather is fairly soft & pliable, they break in quickly. I never got any blisters or anything like that. There's something in the heel area to stiffen it up, otherwise the leather is soft. It's not like some of the older, heavier boots from Asolo and Alico where you can barely b...
