Re: XCd skiing in NH?

Yes that is 3030. There is a parking area on Thatcher Brook Road, and an easement for skiing up the hill, past the farm and east up the brook. There are cleared glades if you take the left fork in the trail, and head up to the saddle north of the peak. There is also a hut for day use.

Re: XCd skiing in NH?

There is a decent back-woods place in Randolph Vt; a mountain called 3030, west of the village (I skied it with wax and/or scales, but skins may be useful). There is a tele group out of Rochester, Vt; RASTA, that has a web site. You may find some skiing buddies there.

Re: Sbounds...leathers

No; Florida panthers are brown-tan; look pretty much like those from the Dakotas or west coast; in my uneducated view.
I see you’all have a forecast of sleet and freezing rain, but followed by days of snow. Sounds like “a good base” may be changing to WOW!

Re: Sbounds...leathers

With less than 300 total panthers in Florida, I doubt one would migrate north to Vermont in winter; even for the fine backcountry and track skiing in Craftsbury.

Re: NNN-BC Leash plates

Tying something around and under your ski usually results in icing; freezing snow buildup, resulting in slower speeds and loss of control. This opinion is based on my multiple experiences jury-rigging bindings after mounting screw pullouts in the deep woods, and includes use of duct tape and wires a...

Re: Ski pole length; pointer.

I have always wanted long (4-ft=3.5 meter) fiberglass poles with some flex in them to push my way up hills in powder. The flex helps when you need that extra jump going over a steep root or rock. However, downhill, I prefer a pole <=3 feet... So I taped up the poles at three feet, like one would wit...

T-roll may want to join the drive west too.
His dog died (sad); but now he is free to travel.
