Re: Alpina BC 1550

Ben, I did try bending the boots in downhill mode without a binding and it felt OK. I wonder if boot size relative to your feet is an issue. For years I’ve been buying boots in a 42 size, for concern about toe bang, but realized when I checked a shoe size chart that I was actually a 41. These boots ...

Alpina BC 1550

I was in my local Sports Junkies secondhand/consignment store today and snagged a brand new pair of these boots for C$70. Feeling pleased with myself I headed home and googled them. I was a bit disturbed to read on a forum called Trailspace several people saying the toe box collapses and causes toe ...

Re: Rossi BC 110

Hey Bri7 I was interested to see you have Magnums on the FindR’s. What boot do you use to drive an 86mm waisted ski with NNN BC? Enquiring minds want to know :o

Re: Least active, best edging boot/binding combo?

I would echo CTMaher’s suggestion. I have the B&D plate with Dynafit Radical toes and a Voile Hardwire back end on a pair of Vector BC’s. It’s very neutral to the extent that, when I first took it out, I really noticed the neutrality as I had been on Freedoms and Meidjo’s prior to that. After one ru...

Re: Rottefella Super Tele WITH STRAP

I'm assuming he did this to increase the binding activity in downhill skiing. Loosen it for the up and along, cinch it for the down. I look forward to your feedback Rod on how it works :) .

Thanks Woods I see what you're getting at now and thanks Rod for the confirmation.

Re: Slightly active bindings: Voile Switchback or X2

Caveat: The angle of the dangle on the steel rebar heelpiece that connects the cartridges may not meet the angle of the rods coming out of the toepiece for people with small feet. Keep this in mind. I am a mondo 30.5 and it works well because there's enough play, a much smaller foot may not have th...

Re: G3 Stinger XCD review coming

Hi Gareth, When you rank these skis are you speaking specifically of climbing performance- or performance overall? This was climbing performance. What boot are you using with the Stinger and the Spike binding? I am using the blue, last generation T3's. I find them a remarkably capable boot for downh...

Re: G3 Stinger XCD review coming

Well I've had these skis out for a couple more Spring tours and I'm really impressed. Today, the snow was similar to a day last year when I was on Rossi BC 110's (temperature around 14C) and the snow was heavy-slurpy skiing down. Today I could ski it, when last year I was flailing on the Rossi's. Cl...

Re: G3 Stinger XCD review coming

Well I've had a few more days out on these skis. If I had to characterize them I would have to say: 1) XC stride and glide is less "directional" than my previous BC110's and Guides, possibly due to the lesser camber and slightly greater sidecut; 2) The downhill performance is streets ahead of those ...
