Re: Extending ski seasons

Mike it is obvious you are a thoughtful guy, but I am not into banning things just because I could consider them wasteful, or because I feel they use too much carbon. Climate has changed dramatically over the earth's history. However those that push for the most government control over carbon emissi...

I agree with everything you say, I love it. My thirteen year old son would be so embarrassed if I mentioned it in public ;)

Re: How Steep is Steep?

I myself prefer steeper terrain. I guess my gear reflects that. I bought a pair of leather boots and USGI skis, because they are a better reflection of what I normally ski in my local back country. What I prefer to ski is what would have a black diamond at the resort. At one recreation area that is ...

Re: Vector BC eludes my thinking

Congradulations Woody, I think you will love them. If you don't plan on doing much skinning I would consider the 3-pin hw over the sb. I have sb on my vectors and 3-pin hw on my BC vectors and don't notice a difference on the down. I like the vesatility of not having to use the heel throws on the h...

Re: Putting an end to GW

I do not understand in the slightest. Valves still open and close through rigid mechanical connections. They are opened and closed via a cam shaft, be it directly as in an overhead camshaft or via pushrods. The article made it sound like a switch magically disconnected the engines mechanical timing ...

Re: Mont Logan, Chic-Chocs (Easter 2016)

Really cool trip, thanks for sharing. It seems as though you may have missed one luxury from the ski-do delivery service, Perhaps a bundle of firewood would be nice? How do you keep the beer from freezing? Other than drinking fast  No huts in this part of the country, forgive my ignorance. Than...

Re: Leather moves and movies

Too cool! Reminds me a little of the old movies with Scott Schmidt when it was about the turns, only cooler because these were tele turns. Now it seems to be about high speed straight lines, and throwing tricks going off fifty foot cliffs. I am in awe of the modern ski athletes, but I can't imagine ...

Re: Altai Skis Hok Review

Great reviews Lilcliffy, ski season is over here. Waiting for a chance for the first paddle on Lake Huron, but still missing skiing, just not enough turns or kicks this season. I my corner of MI, we are not blessed with snow like yours. Most winter we may have one to two feet in the woods, but it do...

How do I get a PM to send?

I tried to send a PM, but it has been sitting in my outbox since the 19th. Am I missing something?
Thank you

Re: Wolverine

No cover, no pack, no herd, I guess that is definitely top of the food chain. Tracks sure are distinctive, something I do not think I would forget. Great photos, thank you for sharing!
