Re: Wannabe telemark skier here
"7TM's are another option." These are very rare these days. I skied the 7tm Power Tours for several years and really liked 'em, they skied very well ("neutral" feel, but smoothly progressive) and never had a problem with them. If by some odd chance you do find a pair, avoid the 'regular' version, an...

"I wasn't even aware of the concept of "rocker launch" but googled it and this makes sense. The old Syner-G's I picked up definitely have some elf toe so I imagine the heal will not sit passively on the heel plate. Is this more of a concern for power loss and/or less than ideal ski response? " I ski...

Re: Tele sauvage
Pretty sure that vintage of BD skis were still Tua's, carried over the from the Chouinard ski line. Skied a few of those, sold some models in the shops I was at.

Re: Wtb 75mm/3 pin bindings
I might have an extra pair of old Riva's of one version or another, if you're interested. Should be fine for what you're doing, and they'd certainly be "affordable".

"They held up plenty well for Tele turns on Eastern Hardpack with 85mm waist skis."
Just curious; what 85mm skis were you on?

"Did you ever get anywhere with this, Al?"
Don't think you'll get a response here John, Al got "Deactivated" from this site in the heat of the unrest with Johnny and Manney. Unfortunate. If you really want to to ask him, you can find him on BC Talk.

Re: Binding recommendation for Karhu Guides and Garmont Excursions
The Voile 3pin cables would work well with that set up, use a Voile 10mm riser if you want to re-use the same holes. Another option would be any of the old Black Diamond Riva's, or Rottefella Chili's, again, on 10mm riser. Any of those will be lighter than the G3's, but parts shouldn't be hard to fi...

Re: Struggling to fit Merrell boots to Chouinard bindings
I've skied those xcd-gt's for a few decades now, and have skied those bindings (or something nearly identical), but not on that ski. That's a poor match. The skis warrant a sturdier boot, and were/are typically skied with a solid leather. Thin soled leathers won't do it justice. Those wire bales als...

"There are plastic plugs guys use...I have also used hardwood dowels and waterproof glue." I use both, depending on the hole clearance relative to the new set. My preference is the wooden plugs, if I have enough on hand. I clean out the old holes, rasp the topsheet down if there's any volcanoeing, s...
