Re: Sbounds...leathers
Puma range is a lot more than 50 miles. Remember a few years ago one was documented walking from South Dakota to Connecticut (where it got run over by a car).

I should let greatgt respond himself, but… have watched him for decades, his style is more likely to be long sweeping arcs.
Also, with even back/front weighting, the wax pocket does not slow you down significantly, in my limited experience, on virgin powder (where I prefer to ski).

Are you sure that is limestone, and not dolomite (a recrystalized limestone containing magnesium). It is tue, like snow, rocks can also recrystalize.

Re: LilCliffy's Nordic Backcountry Touring Waxing
Quoting Manney “ double cambered, stiffly sprung ski isn’t going to work well in the backcountry anyway” I cannot disagree more. The wax pocket formed by a double camber ski for back country, fresh virgin powder is specifically designed to allow the wax to stick as you step on that ski onthe way up ...

Re: Winter Travel Trailer???
My female acquaintances inform me in no uncertain terms that the most important part of “car camping” is a private place to piddle in the middle of the night; without putting boots on. We set up our 4wd toyota sienna with a shelf bed and other sundries. I bought a $12 toilet seat that fits on a kitt...

“they’ll understand the conditions and course better than some guy with a John Deere hat and bib overalls who drives a tractor in the off season.‘
I resemble that remark… but drive my tractor winter and summer. BTW bib overalls are great at keeping snow out…

Trail grooming
It is that time of year when I clear our the brush along my favorite backwoods trails. In our area, that mostly means using longhandled loppers to cut out the beech whips. I try to cut down to the ground surface and not leave “pungie” sticks that would trip me up later. Also, I trim back branches as...

Re: Leather boot resort skiing
I find on vermont ski area slopes my major issue is “booting out”; when I carve too steep an angle, the 3-pin binding hits the ice or hard snow; I lose the edge, and then the ski slips sideways. One solution is to make gentler turns; a second is to get a ski wider than the binding; a third is to put...
