OAC Kars, WAP, and XCD now at REI!
Not sure if you'll have noticed: https://www.rei.com/search.html?q=OAC&r=category%3Askiing&origin=web&pagesize=90&ir=q%3AOAC I am taking it as a sign that permanent skins/ skishoes/ universal bindings are becoming mainstream. ;) Note: Though the title is OAC XCD: the ski looks like OAC XCD GT - wide...

Re: Hagan Off Limits Ski Review
Wow this is cool! I hope more ski makers start providing Hok-like skis with their own variations. I agree that having an integrated removal skin would make it a very versatile setup.
I assume the given weight (1200g) for a single ski not for the pair?

Re: Scott Excursions at the resort
I have the same tele setup- Piste Stinx, Targa, and Excursions. I attended a tele clinic recently and I was apprehensive if this relatively old-school setup will hold at by rank beginner abilities, or if folks would judge me by this setup, but nobody noticed (or showed notice), and I was surprised h...

Re: ski with the other ones
My wife and I do most outdoorsy things together- running, hiking/ backpacking, and now alpine climbing and skiing. Whilst outdoors we mostly talk about normal day-to-day things- I like it; it makes these experiences quite normal and regular, rather than rare and special. Here's another reason to ski...

Re: Skiing down narrow, steep, switchbacky hiking trails
Hey hrishi, sounds like you're really getting into this! I0th Mtn huts are a treasure! I'm from Ontario, Canada, spending the winter in Granby, CO., tele-ing and BC XC skiing in some great places within 30 Mins. of here. Can suggest some good trails in Grand County if you're ever heading over this ...

Re: Skiing down narrow, steep, switchbacky hiking trails
This is great. Thanks all for contributing. LC, excellent recommendation regarding using a soft flex ski- I was so concerned with the length that did not think of this aspect. 12gaugesage, thanks for your experience on using Hoks! I can imagine using them exactly like you use them. I am still pretty...

Re: Skiing down narrow, steep, switchbacky hiking trails
What length 88's and what's your wife's weight according to this graph? <150 lbs. -169 cm 145 - 190 lbs. -179 cm 185+ lbs. -189 cm She is very light- ~ 90 lbs, and skis 88s in 169 cm length. Unfortunately, there ain't a lot of options for such ski profiles below that length. I think Rossi BC 90 com...

Re: NNNBC boot for wide feet
I have EEE wide, very large volume (i.e. instep) feet with narrower heels. Last year I rented NNN-BC Alpina 1600 boots and really liked their fit. Not sure if they make them anymore, but may be they use the same last for their similar current offerings?

Re: Skiing down narrow, steep, switchbacky hiking trails
Okay folks, back from a hut trip where we (my wife and I) skied up 7 miles and 2000 ft to Harry Gates hut in the 10th Mountain Division Hut system. We faced with such terrain a lot. While coming down, we were able to do ski down them in patches using uphill snowplough turns (can't tele turn yet) sim...
