Re: Posting Etiquette

In the spirit and tradition noted in the original post; I think B’s suggestion about leapfrogging is rude and inappropriate, and you should learn to passively Liston and wait your turn to talk like an adult.

No; he doesn't hate you.
He pities and despises you.

Re: Descending Narrow Trails--Skeats?

You are not alone. Trees and branches can be our friends. Falling is ok as long as you dont get hurt. That is how you learn.. Ideally, skiing is just graceful falling, Sometimes leaving one ski out of the track helps; hopefully you have sufficient stamina to hop one ski in-out as needed. Stop often....

Re: Telemark 101, The Stance

Not sure of you definition of a “tight stance”. I try, ideally, to keep my skis as close together as possible. That said, Forward/back distance is variable, and I still consider that “good form’ even with a deep drop and long distance between my feet. I posted attached on another thread, but think i...

Re: Debt?

My guess is we owe china, arabs and Russian oligarchs. In reality; we owe whoever bought our bonds. In 1945, that was probably middle class Americans who bought “ war bonds”. I feel like the US is acting like someone with a high limit credit card, or a loan shark victim. The more we borrow, the more...

Re: Physics debate

Perhaps we need a force diagram. Most engineers and physicists would do that to provide a visual representation where the applied forces and opposing forces can be set equal. I am not volunteering to draw one, perhaps someones sister /daughter would do that on a bar napkin? What I gathered from the ...

Re: Physics debate

Note in the photo, the tip/front of the skis are not spraying snow, the action is beneath the boot (and a foot or so forward and back).

Re: Physics debate

Thanks for the old style binding video. I had a pair of 1957 head skis, with the old cable bindings, That I found in a Vermont barn. They were embossed with the name of a previous olympic skier. I used them for lift serve at Mad River in Vermont (with my Extreme leather boots) both with the cables h...

Re: Physics debate

My point simplified; what is the need to push down the front of the ski?

Re: Physics debate

This discussion (ad infitium) has a basic assumption that I contest. In my limited experience, using extreme leather boots and 3_pin bindings, with and without spring cables, the tip (Bent up forward end) of the ski has no bearing (no pun intended) on a turn. Instead, it is the center of the ski, wh...
