Re: Rossignol BC 100 Positrack

The previous generation BC90 = Fischer 88 without Offtrack Crown-Easy skin The previous generation BC110 = Fischer 112 without Offtrack Crown-Easy skin I have friends with both of these skis above and I have handled and tried them many times- the camber and flexx profile is identical to the equivale...

Re: right or wrong way to handle climbing skins

Whatever you do- don't try and pull them apart if the adhesive is frozen- warm them up first.

This us the reason to use skin-savers out on a tur- don't need to worry about whether the adhesive is warm/frozen.

Re: right or wrong way to handle climbing skins

Long-term storage (dried and put away)- I store them directly skin to skin to preserve adhesive and prevent it from drying out. Do you mean that you stick them to each other, head to head and tail to tail, and lay them flat somewhere? Yes- I stick them together- head-to-head/tail-to-tail. I have cl...

Re: Ski Review: 2019 Åsnes Gamme 54 BC

This season I have been on the Gamme 54 more than any other Nordic touring ski- largely due to less-than-usual snowpack restricting me to trail skiing for most of the season (i.e. there is usually at least 4 months when the snow is so deep that I can ski anywhere and up and down most anything). I ha...

Re: Boot maintenance question

This is great, there’s so much material here. To begin with, I used the “Shame” thing because these days it’s so politically incorrect to embarrass anybody about anything. “Boot Shaming” seemed like a novel shaming candidate. But that’s just me — maybe there is no humor there at all. I regret causi...

Re: Boot maintenance question

fisheater Photos of my aging beloved Alaska BC below- The rubber at the flex point is starting to break down and pinch my foot. (Now these boots have always been a bit big for me- if I replace them I will definitely try the 42 vs the 43) 20210330_094722.jpg 20210330_094748.jpg 20210330_094827.jpg 2...

Now I feel like I have to go and give them an apologetic fondle having cast aspersions on them in a public place. Be careful of broadcasting your objectophilia... I am quite sure you might be targeted by online Object Rights trolls... I know it gets lonely in the hills- but what happens in the hill...

And then there is the Otto — wonder how that will shake thinks up? Asnes' passion for Nordic backcountry skis and skiing is simply amazing and kind-of mindboggling... Yes- the Otto- what, yet another fjellski!!?! Though I would love to try this ski- and if they got it right it could become my #1 ev...

From the photos I see, Norway may just be an XCD touring paradise! I don’t see the thick woods of eastern North America.
Fennoscandia is amazingly far North- further North than Labrador!!!
Norway is mountainous- one wouldn't have to climb very high to get above treeline.
