Re: My dreams of Switzerland after so many years

great posts! Woods, I first saw your photos nearly 4 yrs ago and was inspired to go skiing in Switzerland. We finally booked a trip to Switzerland for end of march for 2 wks. I managed to talk my wife into going to Zurich and St. Moritz. I had to promise her a deluxe experience otherwise she wouldn'...

Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!

That's a great looking zone, looks like the badlands in Alberta but with skiable terrain it's "skiiable" ... alot of windloading, sastrugi, sun/wind crust, variable depths, alot of breakable crust. some areas get rain that really ruin the snow. Once I broke the trail, it's great for a while until w...

Re: AT/randonee race bindings on Asnes Ingstad?

@@jyw5 totally agree about it all being a tradeoff. For me, my goal is to maximize both speed and performance. I've been skiing 75mm since I was 5 and had a long freeheel addiction so I feel very comfortable with those techniques, but to me nothing comes close to the weight and confidence of a skim...

Re: Ski Review- 2021 Åsnes Otto Sverdrup BC

It seems like the Sverdrup and the 1st / 2nd gen FT62 share some characteristics that make them narrow-use skis? FT62 2019 version is a soft downhill oriented ski with very little camber. rocker tips. feels like a skimo ski. floats in soft shallow powder with ease. unspeakably incredible when condi...

Re: AT/randonee race bindings on Asnes Ingstad?

for steep descents in perfect snow, I use: FT62 + NNN BC + Alfa Guard Adv + full length OR gaiters + pomoca 62mm full length tip attachment skins + 1 extra backup pair ... that entire setup (including gaiters, skins) weighs 11lbs. the only thing I would do different is manual bindings. I think Ings...

Re: AT/randonee race bindings on Asnes Ingstad?
Very cool. Are you doing mostly tele turns on the downhills with this setup?
yes. when the snow is good. when it isnt, some light jump turns or pturn works fine too. and if it is really bad, step/kick turns are last resort. spopepro thanks! ochotona_ak I think it is all a compromis...

Re: Ski Review- 2021 Åsnes Otto Sverdrup BC

Wife and I went out yesterday for a short jaunt. My impression of the Sverdrup is that the tip is a bit too soft. also, too rockered. When my wife was skiing it, I can see the tip coming off the snow. These are 175cm length NNNBC. She is 5ft4in, 114lbs...+ 10 lbs for boots/clothes/pack. They do grea...
