Re: Please help a neophyte Vermont XC skier select the right gear

I think either the Eon 62 (195) or Traverse (189) would be okay with NNNBC bindings. Since you have a stocky build, you'll probably eliminate some boots on fit (narrow lasts, cuffs, built-in gaiters, etc. could potentially be issues). Best to try boots on before buying.

The wax wears off quicker too, I don't know why. I haven't noticed that my wood skis hold kick wax better than newer cross country skis, but back in the day, at least, people agreed on both the waxing and the "feel": wood-v-fiberglas.jpg That's from a book I picked up recently - Explorers Ltd. Just the ones they made when they tried out overseas production. I like them - fairly light weight, turn easily. They're good on moguls/soft snow. Not the best on ice/crud.

I hate breaking out my credit card and now you have me thinking about renting a movie! It's one of the best docs I've seen. However, if you're a real outdoor enthusiast it might give you pause, in the same way that 20 Seconds of Joy might give an extreme athlete second thoughts about what they do. ...

6. All the skis ever mentioned at WoodenSkis.com This would top my list these days - or maybe something custom. If I had that special debit card, I would buy real food, real clothes, real gloves and real socks. I feel like that's an answer to another question that was explored in The Snow Cave Man ...

Re: Do ya think US is biggest XC market?

That expedition site is quite something. I want to go! Yeah - I came across the expedition site first. Then I started wondering where they got the bindings... They looked new, but when was the last time you saw ski shops selling cable bindings like that? I know that in Canada the dominant Nordic sk...
