Re: Please help newbie decide on skis??
I know that landscape and terrain. My brother lives on the Niagara Escarpment and most years I hike the Bruce Trail and fish the rivers a bit. I have also lived and worked in Algonquin for a couple of years. I haven't skied there in a long time, but I should. Personally, I'd go with a more svelte sk...

Re: Mountain Race 46 - the red one
Anyone try the Fischer Powerlite (51-46-49) or Madshus M44 Fjelltech (54-44-49)? I'm thinking they MAY be similar in purpose/niche to the Mountain Race 46 (54-46-50). I'm trying to see how others use these really narrow, metal-edged "cross-over" skis, while I consider if I should go this route as op...

Re: Mountain Race 46 - the red one
Thanks. I know there are pros and cons. I also know that I could be happy with either length for different reasons. Asnes has me near the top end of the 200 cm range. Which does say something to me about the intended design parameters. Even though I will need to get them online, hopefully I can get ...

Re: Mountain Race 46 - the red one
Thanks Woodserson. I appreciate your thoughts. Would love to hear what others think about the MR46 versus the MR48 or MT51 for my intended use. I am agonizing over 200 versus 210, but I know I'll adjust to whichever I get. Too bad the MR46 or MR48 do not come in 205 like the MT51, I think 205 may be...

Mountain Race 46 - the red one
Hello, I want to pull the trigger on the Asnes Mountain Race 46 this week! I have been looking at the mountain race/touring series for far too long, and this is shaping up to be a fantastic snow year where I live. I'm sold. Lots of love here for the MR48 and MT51. However, I can't seem to find any i...

Re: Asnes Waxless Skis?
Yeah, I would really like one of the Asnes Mountain Race/Tour too, I'd probably go for the 48 cm ski - the one they introduced last year.
After just seeing the new Crispi boot and the new Asnes, its looking like there is some great new NNN-BC oriented gear this year from Europe.

Re: New Crispi Boot
Those look great. If I didn't have and love Alaskas, I'd be all over these new Crispi boots.
There seemed to be some room between the Stetind and Svartisen - I couldn't choose which way to go (or with Alfa). Hopefully, these are a nice compromise for those that want something in the middle.

Re: Asnes Waxless Skis?
Fluff? New to me. I think the Canadian goverment mandated a no-go on that one.
When I lived in Newfoundland we had corn-on-cob-in-a-can.
And, I've seen canned poutine in New Brunswick.
This should be in the tour food thread. Forget that fancy freeze dried stuff. REAL camping means food in a can.

Re: Asnes Waxless Skis?
I am still eyeing those 35mm mohair skin-locks for my Combat Nato/Ingstad.... Me too. And, I would be prepared to cut them short as well to hopefully get some reasonable glide, even though they are pricey  I don't anticipate grip being a problem in most scenarios where I'd want to use these ...

Re: Asnes Waxless Skis?
Me too. I can't fathom not waxing, and I like it - its part of the ritual of going skiing for me. They go together like peanut butter and jam. For changing conditions I bring different waxes. Not so much a problem for where I live now, except in spring, but it was when I lived down south....
