Re: "You got old gear, man."

My first thought was also that your gear sounds pretty decent to me, especially given your skiing profile. I also get feeling it's time to renew. One other tidbit that would help is, which BD binding? The old Riva series (they had cables with simple expansion springs) work, but they are a little wea...

Re: NNN-BC and Cables?

There used to exist such a thing as a Rottefella NNN-BC with Cable, it was around for a few seasons in the 90's, as I recall. I haven't seen or heard of any around since then. It wasn't related to the Superloop at all, I think the cable action was integrated with the front throw of the BC's. I know ...

Re: Karhu Military Surplus Skis

They do look to be the same skis that've been abundantly available and cheap for decades (literally). Straight, heavy, and stiff.

Re: Sbounds...leathers

'Bout the same over this way. Nordic trails were groomed, smooth, and the granular was nice and fast. Got to where I head up for a nice little glade run, found that crust really quick. Traversed up just to try a few turns; didn't go well; the old survival stem was not pretty, but managed a few turns...

Re: New Super Tele's and full thickness soles?

Thanks Jurassien, that covers it. I suppose the toe piece hasn't changed much in the decade or so since I last had a pair of the 3 pins, I skied them with some Alico leathers with good thick Norwegian welted sole, and I recall (vaguely) the fit was as you describe... quite snug on the first click.

Re: New Super Tele's and full thickness soles?

"I am willing to measure duckbills, or see if the T-4 fits. Just let me know what you need" Thanks for that! Knowing how your T4's fit would definitely clarify things for me, they're the same thickness as my Excursions, or close enough not to matter. (I've never had a look at a Ski March, so I don't...

New Super Tele's and full thickness soles?

I've been considering a pair of the Super Tele with cables to replace some Riva's I currently ski. I like the idea of them fitting my Alaska's, whereas the Riva's don't, and I'd want to be able to use my Excursions also. As I recall, the plain 3 pin super tele's were pretty maxxed out with a full th...

Re: Wtb 75mm/3 pin bindings

Sent you a PM yesterday; no pins... toe tabs, cable, with side throw heel lever. I'm gonna assume they're not what you're looking for. Vintage, for sure. Cutting edge in the 80's. An old Chouinard/BD catalog showcasing these when they came out talked about pairing 'em with some (original) Terminator...

Re: Let's talk poles

"Large round baskets you can still get for all poles, large shaped ones are not made anymore (at best you can DIY chop the front off of 100mm solid plastic baskets)." ... (and pic of the big yellow basket) Those old Excel Arctic poles, and baskets, were awesome! I still lament having lost one (and n...

Re: Wannabe telemark skier here

"7TM's are another option." These are very rare these days. I skied the 7tm Power Tours for several years and really liked 'em, they skied very well ("neutral" feel, but smoothly progressive) and never had a problem with them. If by some odd chance you do find a pair, avoid the 'regular' version, an...
