Re: The NNN/BC Truth Thread
The best method I found for drying out nnnbc boots overnight, while camping outside, was to put one of the big, 8hr hand warmers inside each boot, then put the boots in these, sealed up as tight as possible: http://www.amazon.com/Onyx-Arctic-Shield-X-System-Mens-Arcticshield-Insulators/dp/B005IAY98G...

Re: The NNN/BC Truth Thread
Also, I was able to modify a set of NNNBC Magnums to prevent icing/packing up with snow. Where the guys in the Wilderness Ski Classics seemed to be dumping hot water is not where I've experienced the problems with inoperable bindings. For me, every time I couldn't get in or out of the binding and I ...

Re: The NNN/BC Truth Thread
Sorry for the interruption, but I have an on topic, drama-free post. I skied NNNBC almost exclusively for quite a few years, but after trying AT toepieces and chopped down AT boots, I've finally decided that all of my skis for non-groomed trails will have that set up. What I didn't like about nnnbc:...

Re: XCD BC Repair Kit
I have been meaning to get some extra pole baskets. Would need to add glue if I'm bringing them as well. Would superglue work for pole baskets? I carry that in my med kit already.

Re: XCD BC Repair Kit
Gorilla tape(small, 1" wide roll), bailing wire(about 10 feet), accessory cord(about 30 feet), binding screws, leatherman with bit driver extension, posidrive bit(nnnbc) and torx bit(tech), webbing straps. Pretty sure that would at least allow me to limp out. I had to use one of the webbing straps t...

Tech Bindings/Boots for XC
I weigh around 210 at 6'3" and am on the 205 Eon. I've been using them with NNNBC Magnums, modified to prevent freezing up, the entire time, but am about to switch them over to AT toe pieces and chopped at boots, which is what I have on the Pellestovas, Sierras and SBounds. At size 49, I've found t...

Re: The ever-so-popular Madshus Eon
Relatively new here. Long time lurker, from the old forum(registration never got approved there), and I've benefited greatly from the XCd focused topics. I prefer long distance focused skiing on and off trail, in low angle terrain. I like to go far. XC skiing is my winter version of backpacking and ...

Re: Books books books!
Trails That Never End by Tim Kelley Trip reports from a bunch of long distance, lightweight Alaskan ski trips, mostly on snowmobile and dog mushing trails. Including the 1000 mile Iditarod Trail(he and Bob Baker still hold the ski record set during the trip described in the book), Kobuk 440 mile, an...

Despite the slides on the mountains, the valleys in Hatcher Pass are great right now for touring. Spent Sunday and Monday in the Gold Mint valley and had a blast. https://scontent-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn2/1517678_10202304009098917_203110131_n.jpg https://scontent-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-frc3/t1/16...
