Re: the Nordic Ice Skating Thread

Some fantastic conditions here in Oslo, these photos are from the weekend, skating on the fjord. A lack of snow but some good cold temps has meant I haven't been skiing too much recently, but this is a pretty sweet alternative!

Re: the Nordic Ice Skating Thread

What are the advantages of going long do you think? Going to buy some Zandstra Blades. https://www.trondelagoutdoor.no/skoyter/242-158-zandstra-nis-mrottefella-bc-manual.html#/54-lengde_pa_turskoyter-43_skostr_37_41 I am, of course, right between the sizing recommendations for the 45 and the 48. To...

Re: How durable are Alfa BC boots

The Skarvets are fine, I've had mine for three seasons now and they aren't showing any signs of premature wear. The main reason the Alaska would be harder wearing is that the leather is reversed, so the rough side faces out. This just means that any abrasion is less apparent. As long as you don't mi...

Re: Suggestions for some soft shell pants?

@Leo Tasker Have you got any experience with Lundhags? They look the part, very expensive, but are they worth it at all? I've got a pair of their Nordic skates and a friend has one of their jackets (Spreke, maybe?) which he's very happy with. The quality of their stuff seems very good, the styling ...

Re: Suggestions for some soft shell pants?

I really like the Revolution Race GPX Pro pants, similar style to Fjallraven/Lundhags but at a more reasonable price. A mix of polycotton and soft shell material, they are super hard wearing, breathable and a really nice cut for skiing/hiking. They only sell direct through the website, but the sizin...

Re: The new Rottefella XPLORE OFFTRACK Binding system

Excited to check these out when the hit the stores, especially seeing that the bindings are adaptable for different types of skiing. Åsnes1922 , I guess you are sworn to secrecy at the moment, but are you able to say whether the Alfa boots you are testing are all brand new models, or are some older ...

Re: Binding wedges?

Different direction, might want consider custom footbeds to correct the canting; footbeds can be used in any ski boot. If you're tele skiing, make sure you get a pair that flexes. Absolutely, it's very important to have the foot in a stable position inside the boot before looking at canting and oth...

Re: Binding wedges?

Hi Mike, which boots do you have? Sometimes with Alpine or Touring boots you can fit Cantology shims to the boot sole: https://www.cantology.com/ For Telemark or mountaineering sole touring boots you would need to shim underneath the binding, then this is what you need: https://www.google.com/amp/s/...
