Re: KICK Waxing Scales! It works!
I didn't think of that but we seem to have trouble when the snow is cold. I tend to have trouble waxing when it's warmer than freezing and just switch to kicker skins. As for a versatile wax - in Colorado blue extra works probably 80% of the time, and 10% of that remaining part you just add more blu...

KICK Waxing Scales! It works!
Started teaching a friend how to skinny ski on Sunday only to discover that the waxless skis the GF lent her weren't gripping! Hard crust with a windblown dusting seems to be a weak point. She switched skis with the GF who put on a thin coat of V45 to scales and about 6" above and below - voila! Gri...

Re: Removing kick wax
I'm 90% certain the swix wax remover is just mineral spirits but maybe someone else can confirm.

Re: Skiing down narrow, steep, switchbacky hiking trails
Hey hrishi, sounds like you're really getting into this! I0th Mtn huts are a treasure! I'm from Ontario, Canada, spending the winter in Granby, CO., tele-ing and BC XC skiing in some great places within 30 Mins. of here. Can suggest some good trails in Grand County if you're ever heading over this ...

Re: Waxless Scale Patterns- What's your favourite Flavor?
Great to hear from you HBS! Good info on the BC90- looking at them for a new ski for my growing 15-year-old son. How is your Nansen treating you? Haha yeah a long summer break and late snow in Colorado along with a busy field season at work will do that! I take back the positive review of the BC90 ...

Re: Waxless Scale Patterns- What's your favourite Flavor?
Girlfriend gives the thumb of approval to Rossi's BC90 scale pattern - she had a lot of trouble in deep powder (18"+?) last spring but recently used it in ~6" of fluff on hardpack with plenty of grip.

Re: Skiing down narrow, steep, switchbacky hiking trails
I skied this exact route last February! We had a bigger base then but the snow on the way back was icy hardpack that made the downhill portion extra spicy. Snowplowing was not very effective! One member of my group had I believe S-bound 88s with NNN-BC and did really well but he comes from a lifetim...

Re: Asnes Gamme 54
FWIW I cut off about 2" on my 45mm asnes nylon skins on my nansens and get great grip on spring snow but the drag is pretty rough. Thinking I might cut another inch off...

Re: The ever-so-popular Madshus Eon
Significantly less weight, more durable(not that the T4 + 3pin cable binding isn't durable) and the free pivot close to the toes makes it tour much more efficiently on the flats and climbs. I go into it in much more detail in the following two threads: https://www.telemarktalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=1...
