Re: Help Me Learn How to Turn...
I read Stve Barnett's book Cross Country downhill and also watched very beginner tele videos on you tube. And after three winters I can turn okay. Maybe your best bet is to buddy up to a very experienced resort tele skier and take a lesson. my friend is ski patrol and tele turns in his sleep on any ...

Re: Fischer Excursion 88 vs Outtabounds - Newb
with all the himming and hawing on the web about how Fischers' recessed kick pattern is bad, (I like it because I like to kick wax anyway) I'm not surprised the newer Excusion 88 has a longer pattern and more to it to add kick. So long story short, I think if you bought the 88's you'd be getting the...

Re: Leather Ski Boots & Light Telemark Boots
I printed out the entire webpage of Dave Mann's pure genius on XCD about five years ago. I made three coppies. A copy is about 50 pages. If anyone would like a copy, unless it's on the web again, let me know. we can arrange something

Re: help with mounting bindings on fischer sbound.
I'm an XCD tourer who turns infrequently. I've mounted my dozen pairs of skis (including Sbound snowbounds, ottabounds, and boundless) pins at balance point. My longest Atomic Mountain BC's which are skinny and 200cm I decided to try pins 1/2" ahead of chord center because I read about it in Steve B...

Re: Seeking Guidance On A New Setup
If you want a smile on your face at the end of the day, I would lean toward the Traverse 78's since you said you're heavily into touring, not turns. The 78 will give you a nice sturdy BC feel but still kick and glide nice. Unless you need more float in Montana snow (I dont live in the West) Lean tow...

Re: Cobbled down my Garmont Excursions
Did similar cuff reduction on my Excursions; also cut down the tongue and shaved excess plastic anywhere I could, looking for weight savings. Then started skiing them without the tongues, which was the biggest weight reduction. Tried a couple different kinds of tape as tongue replacements to keep s...

Re: Cobbled down my Garmont Excursions
Why do this to Excursions? Couldn't you just use leathers or loosen the top buckle for better K+G? I just don't get it. Good question. The answer is I like the Excursions as a plastic alternative to my leather double boots, especially for overnighting. I tour much more than I seek turns, like 90/10....

Cobbled down my Garmont Excursions
I cut a full inch off the plastic cuffs of my Excursions. I haven't skied them but they feel really good for kick and glide. I favor leather boots, but the Excursions are actually lighter than my double Alicos in the picture. So I gotta try them soon! XCD baby!
