I do not think you would find much difference between a 3 pin HW and original SB... Same cartridge, similar pivot location. Maybe the bail that maintain the duckbill tight in HW makes it more secure, solid... it could help edging. If you want more heel retention, you need the SB X2 with stiffer car...

I used to have a pair of Atomic Diran, same thing as TM22. I wouldn't use them with floppy leather boots, but if you have mad ski skills, then by all means.
