Re: 3-pin limit
Thanks guys. I'll wait for the guy to lower the price. Nobody will buy them anyway  A couple of years ago I've installed some voile 3 pin's on a pair of blizzard free cross, without risers like the green ones in the images. Unfortunatelly I made some mistakes which in the end lead to not being ...

Re: 3-pin limit
I think the point is that it's possible to go with that gear and dial in your technique to make it happen, but in the snow conditions you describe, different gear such as the 3-pin Hardwire or Switchback X2, would make that far easier and possibly more fun. The skis are fine, though quite skinny by...

Re: 3-pin limit
So here I am starting my new collection of antiques. This is the pair I bought yesterday. 134615804_1_644x461_vand-legaturi-schiuri-iasi.jpg They don't have any risers but I will use the hind part of some silvretta 300 bindings and probably the cables from voile which are less resistant. Or maybe ju...

Re: 3-pin limit
I've mounted the chili's on some skis and barely had time for a little kick and glide last evening in the moon shine. They are stiffer and it occurred to me that telemark can only be learned using the cables . Am I right? Without the tension provided by them it is harder to feel the move. And anothe...

Re: 3-pin limit
Now that I have removed two staples from my inner boot, my Scarpa T4's are perfect in terms of comfortability. About telemark turns: I tried this weekend in my back country on hard pack - perfect conditions for learning on easy slopes... unfortunately not long enough. I have too much years behind wi...

Re: 3-pin limit
Thanks so much for answering. You have to sacrifice something: either lightness, downhill performance or money. But probably the skill is the most important. My conclusion is that I need more practice on piste. I haven't skied that way for more then 10 years. When you take to the mountains the snow ...

3-pin limit
Hi, I'm skiing Voile 3 pin with Hagan Ultra 112-76-99 [163] no cables and Scarpa T4 . Latest weekend I tried some 35-40 degrees culoir with hard snow and it exhausted me(knees and muscles). Is it too much for this gear or am I lacking some technique? Am I asking too much from it? Should I go for a d...

Re: I'm done skiing: Year end report
It's all about loving to be in the mountains and wilderness. All the rest are side effects - skiing, rock climbing, mountaineering in general. It's very easy to forget the main purpose and get lost in details. I'm a lonely bear, myself, sniffing the morning air and decide whether to go for it or not...

Re: introduction
I've ordered a 75 mm boot - Alpina Explorer to use it on Spring tours. I only found 2 online stores in Europe that host 75 mm leather nordic boots, both having thin stocks. My option was rather the size then the model .
Are they so rare in use everywhere in the world?

Re: introduction
No problems. T4 is mega for me and I use them with fat skis. Spring snow is the easiest when temps are above freezing and they usually are during day time.
I'm definitely sure Alaska 75 will be the best choice, just that it will be not that easy to buy.
