Re: Vic Bein

Sounds like this other forum is Telemarktips. No connection to Telemarktalk. Ttips was Mitch Weber’s site - RIP Mitch and Tim Holman Connolly was his side kick. Tim is active on the Telemarktips forum on Facebook. I would reach out to him to see if he has access to the archival material material you...

Re: T2 Ecos as a boot quiver of one?

I've cycled through the whole gamut from Terminator 2's (1991) to my current Scarpa TX, which is the NTN version of the T2. I love it to death and with the power strap and top buckle loosened right off it has enough range of motion in touring for me. Mind you, if Scarpa finally comes out with a ligh...

Re: Damage to Scarpa TX Pro inserts with Meidjo 3 binding

I agree with Stephen, that looks odd. My understanding is that the toe pins are one complete piece, which extends across the toe of the boot embedded in the plastic. So theoretically, if the metal is good the pins should hold you in. It those are cracks maybe there was a fault in the manufacture?

Re: Damage to Scarpa TX Pro inserts with Meidjo 3 binding

Looking closely at that photo, you appear to have a significant divot behind the pin insert. Could you have stomped down really hard to step in, with the boot out of alignment? I have a pair of TX’s with about six years of stepping in to Meidjo, Dynafit Radical and Trab Vario toes. The plastic area ...

Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!

Sunny on the first day after Cypress closed for the season. Perfect for a skin up Strachan with a mix of dust on crust and softer snow. Base is over 4 metres so we should be good for another few weeks 😀

Re: Did not regret going XCD over splitboard or AT this year!

For people that are doing XCD at resorts or on steeper terrain... how does the fishscale pattern impact the downhill? I tried it at a resort a year ago and got huge bruises on my shins, it felt like I was tensing up my entire body to keep from flipping over whenever I was heading down any kind of s...

Hey Robie, are you the same guy from Europe, who used to post on Telemarktips? Great to hear from you (I was Nick D on Ttips). Sorry to hear about your knees- I have the same problem at 79, but that’s why God invented the parallel turn :D

Re: Setting up Falketind 62s with NNN-BC

@Nick BC No Nick, the bases are flat. It’s just that you can flatten the bases together, but the camber pushed back out slightly on either side of where the bases are squeezed together. It’s not much, I had to hold them up to see light to confirm what I believed I was seeing. It’s a heck of a ski, ...

Re: Setting up Falketind 62s with NNN-BC

@timpete as an interesting side note, if you squeeze the FT X together base to base at the binding, you will see air on either side of where the skis are squeezed together. I don’t know what it means, but I have zero wax drag on consolidated bases. As a matter of fact, on consolidated bases with fr...

Re: Waxless on Ski Resort Trails?

At a ski area with hard packed, groomed runs your waxless skis will be slower on low angle slopes. Steeper slopes not so much. If it’s icy you will probably find the skis harder to turn as they are “cross country” ski construction and don’t have the torsional rigidity of a more downhill oriented ski.
