Re: Gear Basket
Asnes Ingstad https://varuste.net/en/Åsnes+Ingstad+BC+Waxless?_tu=93797&change_country=US&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI2eXXnqLC5wIVC8JkCh1jRAm7EAUYAiABEgJNdvD_BwE has anyone ordered from Varuste? prices and shipping look good (better than REI and many US vendors) and a wider selection of Scandinavian products...

Re: Åsnes Nansen Waxless
The Åsnes Nansen Waxless look like the waxable Nansens that I will probably be selling soon, with the exception of the base which is a different colour and has waxless pattern, obviously. The waxable pattern varies along the length. The total length is 55 cm (compared to Fischer's 90cm for the E99 ...

Re: Ski Review: 2018-2019 Åsnes Ingstad BC
I like the choice of wax skis - excuse me if this has already been said but the mohair kicker skins are the perfect companion to the wax Asnes and almost a mandatory accessory IMO. If you trim them off just behind your heel plate you get excellent traction and glide, and it works better than fishsc...

Re: Ski Review: 2018-2019 Åsnes Ingstad BC
... I wonder if the 205's would have been better for longer flatter tours in deep snow. Yes, definitely. But then I'd be working harder at getting them to turn and using the skills I've accrued over the past several years to turn them and I would probably definitely not be reaching for them if I kn...

Re: Ski Review: 2018-2019 Åsnes Ingstad BC
The only reason I would consider a short Ingstad BC is if you had to ski down a lot of steep, narrow trails- where the maneuverability of a short ski would be advantageous. AND- if you are looking for a XC ski to downhill ski steep tight lines I would strongly consider the Falketind 62 as well as t...

Re: Ski Review: 2018-2019 Åsnes Ingstad BC
I've decided on Ingstad for a powder touring ski. I've considered waxless version as we have a lot of warm sunny days with above freezing soft snow. As the Ingstad has been described as ideal in powder I think wax version will have the better performance when used in it's narrowly focused ideal cond...

Re: Powder touring ski options
I hot iron on polar grip the entire base of my S112 and S125...including scales. 3 coats. I skiied the S112 today with 65mm mohair mix EZ skins. Never took them off. It was -8F. They skiied beautifully on dry deep powder.
Polar w skins sounds like it compliments both wax and waxles...

Re: Powder touring ski options
Not sure if this is a really stupid idea but..Wondering if anyone has tried polar grip wax on a waxless ski (outside scales) to get better grip in poor conditions? Yes, definitely. And in reference to your other post, above, keep in mind the Ingstad is a XC ski, and Asnes' description of the ski is...

Re: Powder touring ski options
Also, I noticed putting Polar grip wax (V05) on the whole ski and blue wax in the kick zone works very well for gentle slopes and allows for better control going downhill. Not sure if this is a really stupid idea but..Wondering if anyone has tried polar grip wax on a waxless ski (outside scales) to...

Re: Powder touring ski options
My take on it coming from a strong alpine background is that you need to decide if you want to use plastic boots and telefake or if you want light leathers or soft synthetic boots and "xcd". In my opinion, if you get plastic boots, you mind as well get an AT setup with pin bindings. Also, since you...
