Re: Steep and deep backcountry Nordic ski

Lilcliffy, I have been out twice with my new Alico March boots on BC125s 165cm with Voile 3-pin cables. I've never connected the cables. I don't yet telemark but these boots work really well with the BC125s for XCd. Not great K&G (although that may be related to my lack of experience) but awesome fo...

Re: Alico Ski March Boot

Just picked up my pair at the post office today. Wow, seems like great quality and craftsmanship. Incredibly stiff. Great fit. Just waiting to be broken in. Reminds me of my leather B17 Brooks bike saddle. And just as stylish. Can't wait to attach them to the BC125s. In the meantime I think they're ...

Re: New Posts All Forums:Forum Nav: Rossignol BC 125: 165 length too short for 5'-11" & 150 pound guy?

I typically wear a 9US- 8.5-9.5 depending on the specific boot. I ordered a size "8" in the Alico Ski March (British boot size- supposed to be equivalent to a 9US). I have a fair bit of experience with these old school stiff leather Nordic/mountaineering boots- and for me too much boot volume in a ...

Re: New Posts All Forums:Forum Nav: Rossignol BC 125: 165 length too short for 5'-11" & 150 pound guy?

My Alico Snow March boots arrived a couple of weeks ago. How are they for sizing, lilcliffy? What size do you usually wear and what UK size did you order from GIJoes? Thanks. Fishnaked, I purchased those very BC125 a couple of years ago (great deal) and mounted Voile 3-pins with cables. However, th...

Re: All purpose backcountry/bushwack ski

alaska....Svartisen..Snowpine.........................Excursion.......T4...T2, etc This helps a lot. Thanks! Those Svartisen boots look very nice. The leather combined with the 2 straps could be the perfect balance I'm looking for. At this point, I've narrowed it down to Excursion and Svartisen for...

Re: All purpose backcountry/bushwack ski

The Svartisen will feel better for sure.
In your opinion:
  • How do they compare to the Excursions for comfort, K&G, and downhill control?
  • How do the Excursions compare to the T4s? I personally find the T4s uncomfortable. Just too block like. I guess they just don't work for my foot.
Thanks.

Re: All purpose backcountry/bushwack ski

Thanks guys. Yes, I'm going to check out Radical when I'm up in Freddy in the next weeks. The Alaskas are tempting even to try with the BC 125s. The T4s are simply too stiff for my liking for anything but up/down, not to mention fit problems (aka burnt shins). However, I'm just not sure about buying...

Re: All purpose backcountry/bushwack ski

UPDATE: Found a used pair of T4s size 29. First time out today on the BC125s with the T4s. And first time trying telemark. I must say I have a strong tendency to use the alpine stance. Putting that downhill foot in front does not come naturally! However, those boots definitely give confidence. Unfor...

Re: All purpose backcountry/bushwack ski

Derrick- what length BC125 did you get I got the short ones. BC 125 in 165 cm. And I'm going with the more stout Scarpa T4 boots to ensure I can maneuver them on the hills. Found a very slightly used pair on kijiji. Anxious to try them out if they get here soon enough. Otherwise it's next year! The...

Re: Boot sizing - don't forget the instep!

Once she actually skied [the Excursions] her thoughts changed and now I can't wrestle them away from her. They really do tend to more of the XCD/middle ground/K&G+turns type range of boot. There are strict rules around here about calling that a XCD boot, but it's really in more of a class of it's o...
