mounting tele bindings on a race plate?

I'm getting ready to mount NTN Freedom bindings on an Atomic removable race plate that fits to a Beta 9.20 from about 2001. The race plate held by four big screws at the toe and four more at the heel. It's a strong plastic race plate that had its alpine binding just screwed into it, no backing nuts ...

Re: Nordic Backcountry / Telemark Boot Size Conversion Charts Depository

Waiting on my new Scarpa T2s to arrive. Im in between sizes. One boot fitter said my old T2 29s were slightly too big even though they feel great and no heel lift and no pains sking for half the day. Gonna take the boot fitters advice and give the 28s a whirl since the 28.5 is the same shell size a...

Drafting in ski racing?

Question about drafting in skate ski racing. At the speeds used in the sprint relay, I could see drafting being some advantage. But perhaps skis and skiing keeps a skier from following closely enough to get any actual draft effect. Added to this the shape of a standing human is not very conducive to...

Re: Us gold medal

J. Deggins attacked on one of her laps and dropped the Swiss, leaving three for the medals. Then later was clearly just not willing to settle for less than gold even though Sweden and Norway skiers had moved a bit ahead. Her sprint was amazing to see. The Norwegian skier congratulating them after th...

Re: Mikaela Shiffrin

NBC commentator/interviewer (not Bode) and main announcer both introduced the slalom event as (paraphrasing) “as champion and repeat winner, Michaela will now win gold...”. Lazy and presumptuous, or just stupid, reporting that doesn’t respect the contest or the competition. Michaela needs to arrange...

Re: Interesting site.

Great photo. Racing is great for teaching you what's fast. Even the local tele series I've raced teach me stuff since I get timed and what feels fast isn't necessarily fast. It's hard to learn what's truly fast in regular resort skiing since so much speed is available in regular steep terrain that y...

Re: Interesting site.

.... Another key point, which is explained very well in the video with the Ken Doll model, and is a must see to truly understand the gist of waist steering, is that what you are doing is radiusing/arcing the outside ski around a semi-weighted inside ski, using the waist to facilitate the arc. It is...

Re: Interesting site.

Interesting, thanks for posting. This is not skiing like Stein ! ;-) Very timely because I think I just taught something like this to my wife last week. She's a fearless intermediate who likes steeps and does good quick transition parallel skid turns. Switch skid switch skid switch skid. She's been ...
