Re: Questions for telemark athletes

If you want to try something new and different on skis it would help to commit to lower angle terrain, slow down and figure it out. I'm not sure many are willing to do that.

Re: Questions for telemark athletes

It would appear that I am the worlds leading expert of white telemark skiers, among those that frequent telemark and back country ski forums anyway. Feel free to direct any questions on the subject to me.

Re: Switchback rods for a 27 shell?

Maybe they are standard' I thought there were just two sizes, short and long. They do fit from a 27 to a 31, like you said.

Re: Switchback rods for a 27 shell?

I think the long rods work with a 27, they're what I used on my 26.5 T2s.

I just read somewhere that to stop the tubes from loosening increase the preload. I have had that issue before, but it seems to have resolved itself.

Re: Did The New TXPro Just Drop?

I just skied a Garment Excursion for the first time yesterday. These were my wife's boots , and were in my garage unused for 30 years but now fit with a new Long Intuition liner. They're softer and lower than T4s but they seemed to handle the downhill just as well, maybe even better. It's a shame th...

Re: Style

In the spirit of, "all generalizations are false". On the majority of turns, I have almost 100% of my weight on the front ski as it transitions forward. For example, coming to the end of a right turn, as I plant the left pole to initiate the left turn, I push the right ski forward (rather than pull...

Re: Style

I always say don't overthink it. Don't get mired in the details. The one thing that you can't overthink or practice too much is getting better centered. There is a good instructional video by Urmas that has you going straight on a low angle doing telemark transitions with no turns. It forces you to ...

Re: Style

Nice footage. Like I mentioned before, you ski like a much younger man. I'm always impressed with your skiing.

Re: Style

I'm not buying into that upright stance as shown in that illustration as being integral to telemark. It's just one style, and not the most stable one as far as I'm concerned. MSA, the whole point about getting your butt back is to center the weight between the skis, not on the rear foot. How you get...
