Re: Physics debate
I have provided quite enough explanation already. I suggest you speak to somebody with a background in physics to explain all this to you. Perhaps they will be able to do so in a way you can more easily understand. If they manage to get through, feel free to tell your friends. My education has incl...

Re: Physics debate
And here comes the same statement repeated 100 times Yes, as the same statement still holds true. Tip pressure is generated, Newton's laws are not violated. Hey @Verskis I meant this statement which I don't agree with. "The forces are equal and opposite. There is no net torque. The forces cancel at...

Re: Physics debate
Newton's 3rd law states that for every force there is an equal but opposite counterforce. That one you've got right. But now you have to learn to apply that law. Spring is not violating the 3rd law, it is pullin the boot heel and the binding with equal but opposite forces. These forces generate tor...

Re: Physics debate
And we are still not discussing if the cable spring generates forward momentum, of course it does not do that. But it generates force to the ski, a force that is trying to bury the ski tip in the snow.

Re: Physics debate
I have said, and continue to say, that the *cable* does not apply any force to the ski. Doing so would violate a law of motion. The interaction between the cable and the binding sums to zero. That happens in accordance with a law of motion (the 3rd one). Goddamnit, do I have to repeat all the posts...

Re: Physics debate
Quote right. Springs do return the energy put into them. So they can change an impulse (force) curve. But that curve still sums to zero, so there is no additive force. The net force is still the same. This is what control elements do. They can limit motion, they can regulate force. They don’t multi...

Re: Physics debate
We hold these truths to be self evident. Skis can rise in the snow and cables produce tip pressure. If this doesn't jive with some rules of physics, you must be looking at the wrong rules. Thank you Allen. The real lesson is don’t wrestle with a pig, you’ll just end up all muddy and the pig likes i...
