Thats cool. I've always wanted to try wood ski's. So you think they were noticably quieter than modern ski's? The same is said about wooden snowshoes.
Got a good shot of just the ski's with the bindings? I'm curious about the aesthetics.

Re: Rottefella ST boot compatibility question
I can fit my T4s in ST's. Its snug, have to make sure I press my foot down , and the bail is tight but it will fit.

Re: Unique question (maybe)… Boots, bindings, non-trad ski
3 pin, 3 pin cable with a Scarpa T4 or similar would be notably better than the uni binding. You'll actually be able to ski to a degree. Really though, being that your a strong skier, a scaled ski like a Voile Objective or Altai KOM or Alpina Discovery would be a worthy investment for playing in the...

Re: DIY Heel Lift for Rottafella BC Magnum bindings
I've retrofitted these from Altai to nnnbc.
Nothing special but worked fine.
You'll need both the heel piece and the wire, sold separately.

Re: Paging Tom M. With a question
I'm not Tom, and I dont have a Ranier, but I have the Fischer 78, 88 and 98 and the Objective. In a nutshell the Objective is an Alpine ski. Alpine camber, torsionally rigid, turns and decends like a dream. The 98 is essentially a fat XC ski, camber and a half, less torsional rigidity, but still tur...

Re: Tele boot, Walk mode
I find it easier to do tele's with a softer flex boot.
Much smoother in that transitional phase with my excursions than my t4s. I've never used cable bindings, and wondered if a cable would smooth things out while I bring the inside knee lower.

Re: A trip down memory lane
One thing I miss that the old XCDs had was the right angle that formed where the top sheet meets the sidewall. It's great for scraping snow off your wax pocket by passing one ski over the other. I often try to clear clumped snow in this manner with mixed results.. Smacking them on a tree works some...

Pulled a binding today...
Kinda weird, never had this happen before. Ive mounted a bunch of bindings at this point, I have a jig and the right drill bit, and I used epoxy. On a ski that Ive only had for a couple years that doesnt really get skied hard. Mostly for lower angle distance duty, i.e. basically pure XC. KIMG3051.JP...
