Re: New Posts All Forums:Forum Nav: Rossignol BC 125: 165 length too short for 5'-11" & 150 pound guy?

FWIW I was really disappointed in the BCX6's. The ankle cuff strap rides up over the boot tongue but under the gaiter and rubs weird. The ankle cuff it self wears away the boot fabric near the hinge. The boot is also super flexible which is fine for kick and glide but not great for edging. The Ross...

Sounds like a solid plan. Any three of those boots will have significant advantages over the ones you have, and all 3 are more solid in terms of sole stiffness. Again, I'd encourage you toward something with ankle support... it does make a big difference. The BCX6 would probably do it, and it's a p...

Re: New Posts All Forums:Forum Nav: Rossignol BC 125: 165 length too short for 5'-11" & 150 pound guy?

Seeing a fairly rare snow event (ie, lots of it!) I thought that deep, soft snow was the typical condition in your skiing? Yes, it is. However, this winter, we have about twice as much of it! And it's covering the tops of the brush we normally see thus opening up all types of beautiful looking skii...

Re: New Posts All Forums:Forum Nav: Rossignol BC 125: 165 length too short for 5'-11" & 150 pound guy?

Honestly, pound for pound, the NNN-BC and a boot like the Svartisen will be more powerful than this option. The only advantage of the 75mm here is potential to use a plastic boot if you decide you want to buy one. These are also reasonably priced (between the BCX and Alaska) but you'll not have the...

Re: New Posts All Forums:Forum Nav: Rossignol BC 125: 165 length too short for 5'-11" & 150 pound guy?

I'm learning a lot here, thanks to you guys! I think I'm beginning to grasp this stuff. Maybe. I had another thought. How about 3 pin Alaskas on a simple Voile binding...without the cable when in touring mode and with the cable when wanting to do a few simple turns? That's assuming the cable would s...

Re: New Posts All Forums:Forum Nav: Rossignol BC 125: 165 length too short for 5'-11" & 150 pound guy?

Thanks again, everyone! Seeing a fairly rare snow event (ie, lots of it!) where I go with these skis is what fired up my thinking of making some down hill turns. However, most of the time, there's just too much exposed brush to think that much about downhill turns. That said, in being realistic, I s...

Re: New Posts All Forums:Forum Nav: Rossignol BC 125: 165 length too short for 5'-11" & 150 pound guy?

So on Sat, I tried the 169cm BC 110s my wife has. Not as much floatation, obviously. But I felt weightless compared to being on my old Rossis. Hopping around through the trees like a jack rabbit inspired me to go with the $150 BC 125s. Went in this morning to buy them and the owner told me $125. Bet...

Again, thank you guys for the info!

What struck me right off the bat with the Alaskas is that they simply look like a quality boot. I'll shoot for them when the time comes.

Thanks! The Fischer BCX6 looks good, I like the built-in gaitor, and I see they can be had for less $ than the Alaskas. But I'm bothered with the zipper. Seems just another thing to fail....that and freeze. Maybe they're not a problem though....?
