Re: Kick and Glide in High Wind

I can see snowshoes helping you to not tip over in a crosswind, but so would very wide skis. I really don't think you would need to resort to either though. If the wind is that strong and you weren't in a ground blizzard of moving snow, I would assume the trail would be hard enough to walk on withou...

Re: Style

I think style is huge in tele because there are so many different ways to do it right. Everybody isn't going to look the same, but they should have the same goal of being stable. So as long as what you are doing helps improve stability it's OK, if it doesn't, drop it. It also depends on goals. If yo...

Re: Alpina Alaska 75 failure: again!

It's too bad when you have the boot that you like but there is a durability issue. My wife and I had that problem only one time with our 20 year old Merril Ultras. We booted up a steep section for a few hundred yards and when we got to the top all four of our boot soles had split at that spot.

Re: Technique feedback thread - post a video.

Here is some advice for anyone trying to get to the next level. Take all advice with a "grain of salt." There are so many differences in skiing style, skill level, gear, goals, snow conditions and interpretation of the advice that not all advice is going to work, even if it's good advice. Take advi...

Re: Technique feedback thread - post a video.

Most people don't think too much about their poles. Short poles might not help you learn to telemark ski, but poles too long will certainly hinder the process. Don't be afraid to go too short for the downhill. I don't think it will hurt you, and not only will you think about them less they won't int...

That's a bummer Rod. Do you think switching to a non 3pin cable binding like a riva or chilli would prevent it?

Re: Technique feedback thread - post a video.

Thx Montana No, I'm happy with my progress. Maybe tighten up the stance a bit, I'm into an upright style. This was pretty low angle good snow though, hoping to get some resort time this year and get really dialed. Was also told I make stabbing actions with my pole plants too, so I'll have to correc...

Re: Weak ankles due to minor accidents

There's nothing wrong with strengthening your ankles, and injuries get better over time. I know because I broke both my ankles, once skiing and once on a motorcycle crash. That being said your gear choice also matters. I don't know what you're skiing, but wider skis with stiffer boots will greatly h...

Re: New Intuition Liners for a T4

I just received new Logan liners. They are softer and a little lower than the stock liners. They feel good and might give me a little more volume too. I haven't skied them yet so I hope they stay comfortable without any "hot" spots on my ankles like the originals were prone to. I was going to order ...
