Re: Leather Ski Boots & Light Telemark Boots
How would you classify the new NNN BC Alfa Guard Advance? Would that be an extreme boot? and if not any Alfa boots in the extreme category? I am trying to decide between staying with my Madshus Glitterind NNN BC (and buying new pairs every year) or biting the bullet and paying up for those amazing A...

Re: When to Drop a Knee
thanks! glad to know that these conditions are tough...perhaps that explains the few people that were up there yesterday (with heavy AT setups and wide fat boards)... I may have fallen more times yesterday than I did all of last season.

Re: When to Drop a Knee
I went out and skiied this afternoon in warm temps. thin breakable crust (created by high winds from last night) with deep wet heavy snow underneath. The poles sink all the way in. My 62mm asnes would sink into it. To make matters worse other people's tracks would create this semi hard/soft crud tha...

Re: Ski pole length; pointer.
I am late to this discussion. I prefer short pole lengths however, I think pole length is personal style and preference. Steve Barnett used long poles and he is the xcd master skiier. So I think you guys should look at his book and photos again before telling everyone that short poles is a must. I h...

Re: Madshus Glittertind BOOTS! Initial review - NNN-BC
I tried out a new 2016/2017 pair of Alfa Quest Core boots today. They are definitely softer than the Glittertind...but still stiffer than the Fischer OTX 5. I would like a pair of the new Alfa Guard Advanced GTX but I got this pair on sale NEW for only $20!! So I will wait until the glittertinds and...

Re: Help Me Build XCD Kit
I live in Alaska and have been skiing on 169cm s112 with NNN BC bindings and madshus glittertind boots for 3 seasons. it is really slow on flat approaches but not bad on steep terrain. I am 5'8" and 145 lbs. I am going to try try some glide wax on the warmer days which will help. I regularly climb 1...

Re: Madshus Glittertind BOOTS! Initial review - NNN-BC
Got the boots last month. Noticeably better downhill performance vs. Fischer OTX 5 boots (these fit me well but they start to tear after 1 season!). Plastic strap on the left boot broke the first time out but its now shorter and not a problem. I really like the stiffness and downhill ability, I can ...
