Re: NTN FreeDOM Mount Tale

It looks like a redrill and mounting further forward.... But how should I have avoided this? Can i help you avoid making the same mistake? :!: no! Skis come in too many shapes & sizes today, there's no way to know where to mount each one IMO. I've got a few pairs of skis with extra holes fro...

Re: Old S Bound series

so whip-world is basically just bushwacking. I guess if you want to ski every day in the east you tolerate some whips and breaking a ski on the rocks every now & then. this year has made painfully clear the need for dedicated rock skis! Last year I don't think I dinged a rock even once the entire wi...

Re: Mounting 3 pin bindings

so LC where would you mount those Ingstad - if BP is 1cm behind CC. On that shape of ski it doesn't matter much, the two points are almost on top of each other. I would go with BP on the USGI skis, they're true XC skis.

Re: Crispi Antarctic?

this is the primary boot I use, I like them. The sides are one level up in stiffness from the Alaska and they have the *real* 75mm sole, the thick welted one vs. the thinner glued one. My pair is heavily used - slashed up from edges and everything, but still going strong. Not even halfway used up I ...

it is too bad, the 199's don't seem overly bulky or hard to handle. But they still offer you the E109 in 200 and 205. Not a bad substitute.

I consider E99 to be "light tele", they should at least be XCD. XC includes skate skis & stuff right?

Tman how you keep from hooking a tip on the whips and going down? I did get a bunch of burdock burrs up my pant legs on a ski this year, they worked their way up to my knees, bizarre

Re: Wax it!

I took Dickie Hall advice about the purple wax... it works good for climbing in normal jan-febuary winter... Not to sticky either... For our North Quebec winter, it is pretty good. Not always, of course... violet is one of my favorites - on the coast a lot of snowstorms settle in right around 32 de...

 I think the various sticks and rocks add enough texture to the bases in the BC! No need for sanding.

Re: Wax/alpine ski suitable for pins at a ski area

Do you find that it's kind of difficult mentally to commit to a bent ankle on the lead leg, because the leather boot doesn't offer any forward resistance or support based on what you are used to feeling on your other gear (AT, Alpine, etc.)? I've gone through exactly the same thing. you have to dis...
