Spike 3 pin issue

For ease of entry I've just had a pair of Spike 3 pin bindings mounted on a pair of skis to replace the Rotte ST. My boots are the last generation T3's. I couldn't get the binding to snap closed and it looked as if my boot was not fully in the binding due, no doubt, to the variability of duckbill dimensions.

So I spent a while grinding down the sides of the duckbill until it looked as if the boot was far enough in to align with the pins but it still wouldn't snap closed. Anyone else have this issue?

I've emailed Burnt Mountain but haven't heard back yet

With the spike nt's they say to bend the "wings" on the Toebox until your boots slide in and fit snugly....did you check the tech docs on their website for the 3pin?

I did, but I couldn't find anything on the 3 pin apart from generic step-in instructions. I think the NT toepiece is a slightly different design with the capacity to adjust the wings.

I think you're right. That's a weird sounding issue though

You should try contacting info@thejaycloud.com they are currently the distributor for the spike and were very responsive for my recent request for spare parts

This does sound like a weird issue. We use the Spike 3-pins with Excursions and have not run into this issue. Is it both boots or just one? Make sure you've got them on the correct feet because I found that if I was able to enter one binding fine but the other would not click in when trying to enter the wrong side. I've gotten great customer service and quick response from BMD folks in the past. Great product, great company. Good luck!

Neither boot would engage the pins. As an experiment today I got my wife to try clicking in while wearing her leather 3 pin boots. Again, no joy so I wonder if it's an issue with the binding I've bought.
