I don't know if these images will show up but those crazy splitboarders may have a brilliant idea. Or maybe not.
There's a slot on the heel risers on the phantom split board binding for a voile strap to hold the heel down for skiing.
I'm sure it won't really replace a tele tech or tech heel piece but for some xcd and meadowskipping it might be great.
I'm going to try it for my cow pasture powder skiing this winter.
This also looks perfect for the type of stuff Anrothar does.
Like to hear others thoughts or even better if you tried something like this.

Re: Tech for xcd simple heel hold down
Innovative for sure. But he says the point is "to lock the heel down during those long flat skates, or the slightly more treacherous downhill section of the skin track." For telemark skiing, why on earth would anyone disable the most fun part of telemark skiing, the telemark turn? If it's for super sketchy sections of steep descents, I wouldn't trust myself to a Voile strap.

I can't imagine telemarking or steep skiing with this. For me it will be for low angle parallel
turn meadowskipping. I could also see it it working well for some of the more distance oriented skiers that post here
and are using tech toes only. It would give them a little more control
when needed. See this thread for where I see it being useful-
http://telemarktalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1445
If set up with several fore-aft attachments maybe it could provid better kick and glide feel in a forward position.
All speculation at this point, doesn't seem like anyone has tried it.
