New to tele

Postby BCwannaB » Thu Dec 14, 2017 9:25 pm

Hi folks, i am new at telemark. I am curently able to do linked teleturns on my Rossi BC 65 with voile binding and Rossi bc12 boots.
I am looking into telemark skiing on piste. Here in Cold Lake not much for big hills around so im taking it to Kinosoo ski hill. I did order boots and purchased an old pair of skis.

I have ordered the 2015 Scarpa T4 and bought the Atomic TM 24 beta with Rotafella cobra binding.
In your opinion and expertise, will i have fun on groomed piste with those? Learning the hard way!

Fun fact: You can have fun on groomed piste with a "borrowed" truck bed liner and a couple of beers.

But I think your setup is probably going to turn much better. :D

I have been learning the tele turn by skiing on piste with a pretty similar setup as yours: Atomic Beta TM24 skis, Rottefella Chili bindings and Crispi CXT 2-buckle boots. This year I replaced the boots with Scott Excursion as the Crispis were a bit too big for me, but I haven't yet been skiing groomers with the Excursions. I expect them to be a bit softer flexing than the Crispis, but otherwise really similar.
To me it feels good enough setup for learning the turn, but I have no experience skiing bigger skis, bindings and boots.
My aim is to train on piste (as well as having fun, of course!) and use the learned skills on backcountry with similar "slightly flimsy" equipment, so it may be better to not learn to rely on very burly gear.

Those are last years boot with the foam liner. I like it better than the intuition for this style boot. Where did you get those? I would like a back up pair.
