Drafting in ski racing?

Post by teleclub » Thu Feb 22, 2018 2:41 pm

Question about drafting in skate ski racing. At the speeds used in the sprint relay, I could see drafting being some advantage. But perhaps skis and skiing keeps a skier from following closely enough to get any actual draft effect. Added to this the shape of a standing human is not very conducive to drafting anyway, whatever the speed.

Drafting is everything in cycle racing (everything besides EPO anyway), but cyclists laid out over a top tube form a lozenge shape more conducive to drafting than a standing cyclist, and they can ride closer to each other than skiers can be too.

Drafting is the same in skate skiing as it is in cycling. Super fun

I agree, the principles are the same. It really is super fun, but requires some skill and experience imo.
