Sierra snow qualities? XCD Trail recommendations?

Post by hrishi » Tue Mar 06, 2018 1:01 pm

As much as I would have loved to continue skiing in Colorado, I made career decision to move to California (southern CA, at that). I have lived there before and hiked a lot in the Sierras, but never ventured out on snow. They were also the drought years.

For those familiar with skiing in the Rockies and the Sierras, what differences should I expect?
I have heard that the snow will be more warmer, wetter. What else?

Also any XCD trails/ books that you would recommend? Eastern Sierras are my favorite. I would get every other Friday off, so would be able to drive up to Tahoe.
