Åsnes gender bender
Hi everyone, especially Åsnes fans!
Have any of you boys secretly dreamt of owning a pair on Tonje Blomseth skis but instead opted for the old man with his pipe (Insgtad) or the neutral white Nato instead for fear of them not being capable of harnessing all your power?
Have any women out there fallen in love with Amundsen but thought heck, that bloke is just too stiff for me, I better go with Liv Arnesen.
And what about the rest, those who couldn't care less, who want them all or either or? What's the difference between these gendered skis?
Well, I wanted to know. So I asked.
Asnes Customer Service has unambiguously confirmed that the only difference between the Amundsen-Liv, Nansen-Cecile & Ingstad-Tonje pairs is (AND HAS BEEN SINCE THE FIRST PRODUCTION RUNS) aesthetics.
That's right, there ain't one of the two thats softer, or weaker, or stronger or anything like that.
Just pick the ski according to the size charts and SKI ON!

I beg to differ... For me it's more like "Just pick the ski with the girl you like best, and adjust your style and technique according to the ski's characteristics"... (This is also quite useful in other spheres of life kids...)bgregoire wrote:Just pick the ski according to the size charts and SKI ON!
Ok ok, if the Cecilie BCs would have been 20cm longer, I would have probably kept them and stick with my old beaten up boots with cracked bellows...
The "Girl optimization" is probably just the recommended weight/sizes. I still believe Asnes should only do girls skis, but up to 220cm in length... Thanks for sharing the info!

Re: Åsnes gender bender
This is good to know.
I assumed that the women's version was softer.
What about a 205cm Tonje?

Cross-country AND down-hill skiing in the backcountry.
Unashamed to be a "cross-country type" and love skiing down-hill.

I am always willing to try a beer with a pretty girl on the label, kind of cool it could work with skis as well
