Yes it was, but it lacked a smooth flex and the tails were not supportive enough. The UV fixed the problems but otherwise skis the same.

The original Vector (w/o scales) is perhaps my favorite ski of all time for backcountry skiing in Colorado. Since 2012, I have several hundred days on them, and they were my go-to choice for tours with any 3-d snow. I say "were" because they are getting a bit beat-up, and I have only used them for early season outings the last couple of years.

My only complaint with the original Vectors is that they weren't as exceptional on 2-d snow, mainly due to their lower amount of sidecut, (but then, IMO, this is what made them so good in 3-d snow). I have a pair of UltraVectors that I haven't mounted yet, but I suspect that they will be better than the original Vectors in firm conditions; I just hope they approach the original Vectors in more challenging 3-d conditions, e.g., breakable crust.

Andy I think You are going to love them more in all conditions. What boot/ binding are you going to use on them?
