Madshus Panorama M62: Is the GUIDE finally dead- and can someone explain these skis?

Is the Guide finally dead?
WTF is a "panorama" ski?
Isn't this another XCD GT/Eon?
How can the "Grip System" be "waxable"- yet the ski have a skin insert?
AND- why isn't there an actual damn photo of the base of this "new" ski?

It seems to be Madshus version off the Fischer easy skins and Asnes X-skin...

Cool- competition is a good thing!

Didn't see it on the Madshus website-
Have the Epoch/XCD 10th Mtn and the Annum/XCD Guide finally been discontinued?

I see the Epoch and Annum on a couple os sites, appears they're still around. That new Madshus... I dunno, looks too gimmicky to me. I'd stick with a flat base and skins, full or kicker, when needed.

19/20 Madshus product lineup

New member here. I’ve also been trying to make sense of Madshus’ new 19/20 lineup. With so little information yet available on these models (even Madshus isn’t providing much help; https://news.madshus.com/2019/10/14/how ... -skin-ski/), I’ve found it helpful to cross-walk these back to their predecessors (on which these forums, and you all, provide such great info). I think I have this right:
  • ????? -> Birkebeiner Intelligrip (47-44-46) -> Nordic Pro Intelligrip (47-44-46)
  • ????? -> CT 140 Intelligrip (48-44-46) -> Nordic Intelligrip (48-44-46)
  • ????? -> ????? -> Fjelltech M44 Intelligrip (54-44-49)
  • Voss MGV+(60-50-55) -> BC50 MGV+ (60-50-55) -> Fjelltech M50 Intelligrip (60-50-55)
  • Voss Wax (60-50-55) -> BC50 Wax (60-50-55) -> Panorama M50 Intelligrip Transition (60-50-55)
  • Glittertind (68-55-62) -> BC55 MGV+ (68-55-62) -> Dropped
  • Glittertind (68-55-62) -> BC55 Wax (68-55-62) -> Panorama M55 Intelligrip Transition (68-55-62)
  • [Karhu] XCD GT (83-62-70) -> Eon 62 (83-62-70) -> Panorama M62 Intelligrip Transition (83-62-70)
  • [Karhu] XCD 10th Mountain (99-68-84) -> Epoch 68 (99-68-84) -> Dropped
  • [Karhu] XCD Guide (109-78-95) -> Annum 78 (109-78-95) -> Dropped
This is all based solely on sidecut. I would assume materials, construction, camber, etc. are likely to vary model-to-model in at least some cases. And as you can see, all 19/20 models are built around either integrated or removable Intelligrip skins. It looks to me like the Guide/Annum, the 10th Mtn/Epoch, and the Glittertind/BC55 (waxless) have been dropped altogether, as have some other models I didn't include here (e.g. 18/19's Birkebeiner wax, Nordmarka models, and CT 120 models).

Hopefully the above is helpful. And hopefully user reports start coming in on these newest models soon!

I’m new member too. WildlifeBio – Very good list indeed !
I used to ski Glitterntinds (non- fish scales) for a while. Very good ski 50mm class “touring ski” for turns.
XCD skis without patterned based has been hard to find. Good to see that this is ending due to new “skin technology” !! (always used a self-made kicker skins on skis like that.)

I got very good deal of Madshus Panorama M62s (with Voile 3pin.) from Sport Conrad in Germany. The IntelliGrip Transition skins comes with the skis! (also small skin pouch is delivered)

M62 has definitely complete different flex pattern versus Panorama M55. Panorama M62 is not only wider version of M55, Panorama M62s has very medium camber and clearly rockered tips, when the M55 really is a classic double cambered ski. I’m not exactly sure M55 is the old Glittertind. The camber feels stiffer to me. I really liked my Madshus Glittertinds 205s (68-55-62 mm) back in the day. Only wished them to be a bit shorter for even better turning. Like Steve Barnet, he skis Glittertinds very short.

Back to my new skis. I would say that M62 is clearly touring for turns oriented. M62 has full caliber metal edges (not typical thin edges you see a lot now days), camber is low (+2cm), un-grooved base, rockered soft tips, tapered tails.
I haven’t mount them yet, so I don’t know are there any metal reinforcement sheets on the mounting area. Madshus don’t print the drill size on the top sheet, so I’ll start with 3,6mm and see what comes out.

M62 has slightly more mass versus some similar dimension skis in that class, but certainly don’t feel too heavy at all. Very much same weight as are my old Fischer Rebound 88-60-68 (2400g).
M62: 83-62-70 (2400g)
EON 62: 82-62-70 (2026g)
E109: 82-60-70 … light
Åsnes Ingstad: 82-62-77 (2050g)
Fischer Rebound: 88-60-68 (2400g)

I'm planning to ski these as classic light telemark touring skis with plain 3-pins and Alico leather boots. I’m very excited to see how Madshus IntelliGrip® Transition skins works.
