New skis
Hey everyone,
Just got my E99s in the mail today. Does anyone have tips for prepping the skis before I get out there?

Re: New skis
Assuming they're taxables, and you're using them for backcountryish touring...
Hot wax and scrape (brush also is good if you have one) with a warm temperature glide wax or base prep wax.
Wax again with Polar hard (kick)wax.
You could get fancier if you want: determine your wax pocket, wax tip and tails as described but with a cold glide wax instead of polar for final wax. Wax pocket gets the polar kick section to finish. You can still cork on kick wax over tips and tails if you want.

Re: New skis
Thanks can I just prep with polar first, or is a softer wax better for the first pass?
Haha Nitram, that would be the dream. They were a good deal though

Re: New skis
Ok thanks! So with a new ski, is one layer of prep wax enough (whether it's base wax or polar), or is it better to have multiple layers?

Re: New skis
Two separate applications of a warm wax first, scraped and brushed. Finish with the polar.
The warm wax/base prep pulls out impurities (absorbs way more than polar) and conditions the ptex. The polar provides a good base for your daily waxes to adhere to.
Sorry for the spelling in my first post - the wax doesn't care whether your skis are "taxable" or not.

Re: New skis
Thanks phoenix. For waxless, is it essentially the same, other than not waxing the scales?
