I never wore a helmet and never will. It's just fear-based marketing.

Seriously, who needs a helmet?

Technically, Plake isn't wearing an helmet but I would consider his hairstyle is giving him some sort of protection:)
Personally I wouldn't ride without an helmet anymore...

Schumacher was apparently wearing a helmet camera.

The news said the video was under review.

I assume they will be able to at least figure out speed at the time of impact.

Or maybe, if he was trying to catch a football, like a Kennedy.

Spiegel reported late Saturday that an unnamed 35-year-old man had contacted the magazine claiming to have captured the accident on video while filming his girlfriend on his smartphone just a few meters (yards) away. The unnamed witness, described only as a 35-year-old flight attendant from the western German city of Essen, claimed Schumacher had been skiing gently between two ski pistes at no more than 20 kilometers per hour (12 mph) before his fall.

I have ridden motorcycles for 80% of my life, and the old saying in motorcycle groups is that helmets were only meant for those with brains worth protecting.

That leaves out most skiers just as it leaves out most Harley-Davidson owners.

It would be better to lean your skis up against one of the Harleys parked outside the local bars or casinos (we have Harleys parked outside bars in winter in Montana....go figure) and just spend your spare coin on a tattoo instead of a helmet.

You could also just forget about the tattoo or helmet and just go skiing instead, ditch the magazine subscription that steers you toward a sk helmet, and buy a bottle of Scotch instead. Scotch is good for your head, as all Scotch drinkers know.
