Highest point 2300 meters; get there in 4 hours non-stop and back in 2; hide skis in the forest then come back until no more snow available
Last Friday was a typical winter day on the mountain, windy and foggy with still a lot of snow above 1500 m. After skiing down it cleared but for me it was too late. Yesterday was perfect. I waste some of my vacation days on hunting these kind of days. The weekend is not enough.

Looking good Merak, way good enough to "waste" a vacation day on. Thanks for posting.

Great stuff Merak! Nice snow, nice photos, nice terrain. It would be a horrible waste to not ski that as much as possible. The weekend is NEVER enough for skiing.

Merak, I wouldn't have three vacation days left over if I had terrain like that. Looks like you could spend a lot of time exploring in those mountains. Great photos, always nice when you post photos.

Merak, sweetness! Thanks for sharing.

Spring has arrived but we are still skiing winter like conditions!
La montagne Noire (Saint-Donat, Québec) was looking great this week end with some fresh powder. With a summit at 892m and a vertical drop of roughly 400m, the snow should last for a while.

GLB:
I really like the skis (Asnes Kongvold), but I am not the norm on this forum. I am xx, small and aging! The skis have a soft shovel so they initiate a turn with little effort. They also have enough width to float in the powder. With camber and a half(?) they tour/track well. No metal edges so the skis are extremely light. I have a HD Voile three pin bindings mounted and I use an old pair of Scarpa T-3's. The boot, binding, ski match works well. I think an NNN backcountry set-up would work also. I bought the ski online at Neptune Mountaineering, but I think their stock of Asnes skis gone? You can get more info at Asnes website.
