It's Mt Si in North Bend Wa. Snow this low is unusual. Only the 2nd time in the 8 years we have been here. The 3' of snow closed all the roads of for a week. This old railroad bed runs behind our house and goes east for hundreds of miles.

So Bend doesn't get any snow in town? I've thought about living there, maybe soon - has it been ruined by people from California or do you still recommend it.

Canna, Woods has me convinced to start looking into New Hampshire. Skiing into to May, shops that actually stock Telemark gear, and I think the fishing and mountain biking could keep me interested through the summer. All that just a short drive from Massachusetts ;) !

Definitely would recommend NB. Our ski shop is owned by a Swiss Mountain guide and caters to all things for alpine touring. Two climbing walls and a bike park. Resident elk herd. Bears, mountain lions, homeless travelers, 2nd Amendment nutjobs and Microsoft Execs all mixed together. Summer is 6 weeks with the top down on my Jeep. 2 hour drive gets skiing in August. And rain, lots of rain. 60+ inches a year. But 20 minutes away the rain turns into this. Lift accessed BC Nordic skiing with blue groomers the get you back to the bar and your car.

that's pretty funny, I though you meant Bend, Oregon! So North Bend is basically the closest you can get to the mountains while still living in the Seattle area - looks perfect for me! I like to be within 45 minutes of the city.

Here's a few shots from around my neighborhood within an hour drive or so. We're finally getting some decent snow in southern Idaho!

I know my E99s were down there somewhere but I don't think I saw them much that day.

Outside of the Randolph Mountain Club Hut... everyone pees outside and then the big wind comes and blows the surrounding snowpack away...

Looks like a nice afternoon Al. It's pretty cool when new boots go on and you just ski all afternoon. Looks like a place that would be fun to ski all afternoon as well.
