So the wife was browsing through weekly flyers yesterday... When she suddenly burst into laughter!
Then she showed me this MASTERPIECE...! I couldn't stop laughing... A typical skier in a typical ski scene... The best way to sell ski clothes...!
A handsome guy with a nice posture... Nice ski pose and cool attitude. Comfy work boots for downhill control and the latest trend Mountain Ridge jogging pants and sweater. Add to this a pair of 140cm museum skis carried the Chopstick way (one of the most efficient way of carrying skis) and man, the illusion is perfect!
Oh, it says "Montana" on the sweater, which makes me believe this must be Ron Cole's son...

Right now in the Reserve faunique des Laurentides (not to be confused with the Laurentides which are at the opposite of the reserve)
Rouglhy 45cm of base with ligh crust under the snow.

Up until last week I was doing gliding and carving in one of these, a1938' and a1958', both Old Towns.

Dude, gorgeous, Al, gorgeous! My brother and I have a 1964 Old Town Otca 17 sailing version. I just recaned the seats and then my brother dropped it on a rock, so another repair this spring. My Dad bought it new and we've kept it. He had it glassed in the early 80's but over the canvas, so I can return it to canvas easily at some point down the road.
Beautiful boats you have there, Al, beautiful.
What great boats, so smooth-- wood is good!
Impressive tent too... yours? That's in PA, right?

Thanks Woods, I had to post a photo to see if I still knew how.
For being such heavy boats they sure do paddle nice. I have 2 16 footers and recently got an 18 footer and was surprised by how much easier the bigger boat moved through the water.
Do you still have the sailing rigging for your boat? I bet it would cruise in the slightest wind.
That is in Pa.. The tent is a canvas Baker tent. I have one in Ak. too, it enables me to drink margaritas outside from April to October in all weather.

I have the mast, yard, and sail. The rudder and leeboard arrangement have gone missing. I need the pintle hardware and will fashion a new rudder (the gudgeons are still on the boat). I bought some late 1940's leeboards, the thwart spreader should be easy to knock together. Traditional small craft is my summertime hobby so I've got this nailed. Hoping to get her sailing again. Will report when I do!
