2019 was such a great year for us north of the border. I managed to ski on natural snow until may 12th. To extend the season even more I decided to attend the Mount Washington Slackfest last monday. Once again this year it was epic! After an early wake up, me and a friend headed to the summit of the mountain the hard way to enjoy some late may turn. After an endless hike, we reached the summit in less than 4 hours from Pinkham and started to enjoy some turns. After a few minutes spend in the snowfield I came across Wooderson from the forum! What a coincidence. Such a nice guy ad a very good telemarker.

The amout of snow remaining on the mountain is impressive. The bowl section has still plenty of snow in the left gully, the airplane in the great gulf hasn’t reach the choke point yet and the snowfileds are almost connecting to the bowl! Hurry up and grab yours skis while the snow is still there!

Here some pictures of the day. Enjoy

September 2nd and we are still skiing!

I’m not sure I’ll live long enough to be able to ski 12 consecutive months again...

Bri7 kudos to you for skiing Washington with Rossi BC 110’s and NNN BC. :D I had those skis for a while with Lite Dogs and T3’s and I couldn’t ski Pacific North West Spring snow for love nor money. Mind you it was pretty sloppy and goopy. I solved the problem by replacing them with G3 Stinger BC’s also 78 underfoot. A year later a similar outing on the G3’s was a pleasure.

Hey nick

The BC 110 and NNN BC were probably not a setup for those kind of conditions but the 30km round trip to the snowfields was just too long to carry something heavier :)

By the way, this is not mount Washington. This is a remote area called la grand cuve, a few kilometers from mont Albert in Gaspésie (Quebec, Canada)

Good for you Bri, September is the hardest month to find snow.

Awesome!

If you want to ski another 12 consecutive months and don't mind skiing south of the border, let me know ;^)

And our approach hikes in Colorado are no longer than 20km RT :)

Remote? Hey, that is nearly in my back yard! Snow conditions look like they were fabulous. Let me know next time you're out east!

Conditions were horrible :) Hard snow, snow cups, riffles, crevasses... But it was all worth it to ski the east in September. Don’t worry, I’ll give you a call next time and I’ll spend more than a few hours in Gaspesie this time to really appreciate my trip. It was only my second trip to the parc national de la Gaspésie but there is a lot of potential and I’d like to ski it during winter time.

Sounds interesting!!! I don’t mind skiing south of the border but Colorado is pretty far away from here. We will see what August and September 2020 will have to offer over here first :)
