Asnes Storetind- mid-fat waxable XCD ski

Post by lilcliffy » Sat Mar 14, 2015 8:14 pm

I have, and many others, have posted wondering whether there is a waxable XCD ski with similar specs to the Madshus Epoch/Karhu XCD 10th Mtn and Fischer S-Bound 98.

Check out the Asnes Storetind ("Storetind" in english: "Large Peak"):

With a profile of 103-68-93mm the Storetind sits in between the Epoch/S-98 and the Madsus Annum/Fischer S-112/Rossi BC110.

Single-cambered, rockered tip, carbon reinforced wood core, sintered waxable base, integrated skin system (Asnes' "trap lock").

This ski is available in both Canada and USA:

A dream ski for sûre but are you certain of the single camber? I read they had more of the dimensions of an alpine ski. PS: I love asnes skis.

They look interesting, rockered skis work great in the bc even on the up.

Fairly sure they do have single camber with a rockered tip...will see if I can find out more!

I love Asnes skis as well- tried them many times- but have never owned a pair. I have a friend who has quite a few pairs (been skiing for 50 years)- been lusting after them for 15 years...he won't sell any.

I was kind of wondering if they are an anorexic Vector. Kind of looks that way from the pictures i.e. not much of a camber...

Heard back from Asnes in Norway- from Asbjorn Asnes himself:

Hi!

Storetind is a ski with rocker only in tip, and have camber and a small wax pocket.
I don’t know too much about Madshus Annum, so I can`t compare this two skis.
This ski is good for Nordic back country skiing, and works well for telemark turns.

So- this is a traditionally-cambered ski- with rocker in the tip- just like the Madshus/Fischer XCD/S-Bound skis. XCD mountain touring skis.

Now if I can just convince them to make the Storetind in a longer length...

I would still love to try a 188cm pair for a tour with some extreme terrain in the mix...

We'll this site may provide some very interesting info on the Storetind to those that can decipher Norwegian!:

Such a groovy company. I wished they had a presence in the US (for all 6 skiers who would be interested).

***That one CO company excepted!
