NOS Rossignol 7S
NOS Rossignol 7S
No review yet, just wondering whether to mount these up. Found them at my parents house from the year I quit ski racing and started snowboarding, around 1992. Classic slalom skis. Didn't find a review on Dave's page but there was a whole section on slalom skis. Brand new never mounted 183cm.

I remember the green ones, they were popular. 183 cm seems short, back then real men skied 204’s. However, you would probably want to go to a shorter softer flexing skis for Tele, maybe 190 cm. If you are a lighter guy, 183 cm may be okay.

Probably a bit short for me, in 6 feet and eat too much steak and eggs, but I'll give em a whirl and pass em on if they don't do a thing for me. Don't really have a slot for a ski like that, aside from curiosity. It'll have to wait til next year though, I have volkswagen issues, my season is over

fisheater has talked about old alpine skis with stiff tails, which made me curious. I looked at old magazines on books.google.com (idea I got from Johnny). It turns out a lot of slalom skis got stiff tails in the 1980s after the introduction of folding plastic gates; they were known as "J-turn" skis at the time.

Ski magazine used to publish flex charts for skis, but stopped in the 1990s. There are some with Rossignol 4s (best-selling ski model of all time, apparently) and 7s:

Rossignol slalom skis seem to be more evenly flexing.
I had a lot of fun norpine skiing at the local hill this past season on old 190cm mogul skis with NNNBC bindings with white flexors (another idea from Johnny). The plan is to put the bindings on a pair of 200cm Rossignol 4sv I got for $20 a few months ago. Should be a big upgrade. The mogul skis were too soft and did not hold a carve on hardpack.
